Great video! I own a a5100 and I think it is a great camera to learn the basics of photography. Also, it offers a very good picture quality. I just came back from a three-day trip to Prague and I was so pleased with the results!

I just ordered a 5100 to back up my ZV-E10 for all the lens compatibility, same sensor and batteries and stuff so it's all interchangeable. I plan to use it as a stationary studio cam for streaming and recording talking head type narrations for my edutainment style content videos. I think its going to be fine in a controlled light indoor studio environment and I am excited to see so many youtubers AND commenters singing its praises across the video equipment channels and video making channels.

@@MattyDCCollins Your review helped me decide to do the ebay deal - an a5100 plus chargers, various cables/cords, a couple batteries, the right kind of big ass sd card, the kit lens, and all the papers, booklets, straps, caps and crap all like new in original boxes with less than 300 clicks on the camera! (of course it could have been a studio cam for 1000000 hours, but still, its like new!) and I got all the stuff for just shy of $400 shipped. Woohoo!

I'm looking for a good cheap used camera, and this video is helping me to add a reference into my list. Thx

zv-e10 for sure better for video but if your needs are mostly photo that could work too! or simple 1080p video works on it as well :)

I have allways wanted one since launch, it´s really a killer price for streaming

I use my a5100 as a B cam for my A7iv ... Usually I have the 11mm 1.8 on my a5100 and the Sony 85mm on my A7iv. That way I have an ultra wide + tele combo at all times. If ultra wide is not needed, I pair my a5100 with the Sony 35mm

Yeah so many good deals out there!

I bought my first long ago. I bought another used one a couple years ago. I bought my daughter a used one. I have a useful collection of lenses. I also have a a6400 when i need better video. The a5100 is my absolute favorite. I may eventually add a zve10 as i think that it's the closest available replacement. I mostly use the ttartisan 25/2, with occasional use of the Sigma 18-50, and even the 16-50 kit lens. It still kicks axx in 2024.

This is sooo cool! I'm a beginner who uses my phone camera (Samsung Galaxy A20) for everything so to have a great camera like this which would be a dream for me. I'm trying to build up my equipment and my phone and a light or two is what I have at the moment.

I’ve been using mine about a year now. Quite attached to it, man it’s made some really good memories. I will never forget. For stills it’s been wonderful to learn on. Video, not so much, it shits down after about 10 minutes.

the camera looks great! its portable. and i love that is shoots RAW. never shooted on RAW before. looks like something really handy.

That would fine but two things come up - no mic input so record audio separately and check for record/overheating limitations. I would assume it would kick off after 30 mins

I've been watching a lot of relatively recent NEX and a5X00 reviews this week and I'm always glad to see another take on the older Sony E mount cameras. Also, I need to remind myself to check back in a year to see how close this video is to the 2,500 likes threshold for the giveaway. Cheers!

This camera still is amazing.

Started using the a5100 when I began shooting KZread six years ago. Have a body for each of my favorite lenses. Have done over 400 videos and the a5100 was used in nearly all of them. I have seen no reason to upgrade to any of the later 6K series cameras -- no reason -- same sensor and all of the features I need. I probably will upgrade eventually to get 10-bit colors. It does fine for KZread content, the 1080p video looks great. Cheers

The A5100 IS the A6000 without the hotshoe and without the viewfinder. It was released after the A6000, and has the exact same processor + sensor as the A6000, but in a A5000 body. If you can live without a flash and a viewfinder, you aren't really missing out on anything.

I think you can't go wrong with this Sony if it's going to be your first camera!🔥

I already have a Fujifilm x-t for my main photography, and it's not been great for streaming, which is why I bought this guy. I'm going to use it as a streaming only camera, and the quality will be good for my 720p output. The flip screen for monitoring is going to be a good improvement.

Another pro: With an HDMI to USB adapter it makes a pretty good webcam, since it allows to disable the settings overlay. The camera works well with the Tamron 18-300mm which has image stabilisation.

Let's Go! Smartphone cameras are getting dang good and sometimes you can't spot the difference. I honestly find smartphone cameras better ONLY for small device uses like for social media videos, but otherwise, get a dslr.

Can you please help me choose which camera is better for me, Panasonic GX850 or this Sony A5100? On Panasonic i would put Panasonic 12-32mm and on Sony i would probably put 16mm f2.8 or something similar .I want small compact camera for travel and daily photography with flip up screen. Video is not that much important to me, i dont care for 4k videos and if i need good video both of them can satisfy my needs. What i want to know which of these produces better image quality, have more vibrant and beautiful colours, and which one is better when left in automatic or intelligent automatic. Basically i am looking for better image quality and colour pop and which one is better in auto/intelligent auto (something like point and shoot but better image quality). I would really appreciate your help.

Honestly man both are compact and travel friendly. But I’m gonna say the a5100 edges it out for overall features. I would also recommend looking to the a6000 as well if you can get a deal because it has a viewfinder which you might enjoy because you’re in to photography! Hope this helps!
