This is one of the most MUSICAL DRUM SOLOS that I have ever heard!!! Hats off to Sonny Emory!!!!

Why is everyone not talking about this guy? Everywhere! This is f*cking brilliant, on every level. Absolutely superb player, and super-accurate. Love, love, love it!

in the mid 80's my drum teacher took me to the Hilton hotel in San Francisco to see a drum clinic by Terry Bozzio. there was an opening act drummer there also, his name, Sonny Emory. Sonny played beautifully. both drummers were sponsored by remo at the time and Sonny made that kit sing. After the clinic both drummers answered questions and signed autographs. Both were very gracious and friendly. I went to the clinic a Terry Bozzio fan. I left the clinic a Sonny Emory fan. Inspiring. I still play and try to pretend I know a few Sonny Emory licks.

lol sonny wasn't an opening act though, they were both headliners. that was back in the day when sonny was still playing with earth, wind and fire.

Met and briefly spoke with Emory twice, in Montreal and NYC. Charming fellow all the way :)

Saw Sonny in 2012 in Milwaukee with Lee Ritenour and it was a fantastic show. Sonny was very humble and a great guy to talk with afterwards. Loved all his work with Earth, Wind, & Fire.

Very cool!!! I could watch him all day!! What a talent.

Sonny Emory will never EVER seize to amaze me! His playing is pure magic! Such effortless ability, with such power and precision! Totally underrated as one of the greatest in the drumming community!!

You are the best drummer in the world to me and my friend Andre Rogers,.. your #1 FAN'S !

The fact that he opened with a clave going into a funk tune just shows his flexibility and versatility as a musician

One of the greats. One of the greats. So much happening in this drumming. Sonny is truly rare. His music lets you find the beat in completely new ways.

That kit sounds sooooooo good. Yamaha never disappoints, neither does Sonny.

All the engineers that record my Yamahas say all they do is bring turn them up. Thats the beauty of Yamahas. They sound great and what you are hearing are what they sound like.

Geez man so freekin tight. I haven't watched this guy much but man im a new fan.I love his feel and style.I'm tired of seein all flash just licks that a lot of people do.I'd rather here a tight groove with some really tasteful licks in between every now and then like this guy does.Man I love this! he´s a real outstanding groove master! Love what he did with Earth Wind and Fire. And he looks like Eddy Murphy :-)). He plays for the band, the song and the music in every stroke with precision and power....

Wow that tune at 3.09 etc is bangin. Sax is awesome also. Love it, right on the money guys. 5.17... Yow and that super solo following Eddie M is on great form and what a showman. The cymbal tricks i havent seen so done like that before in such a dynamic way.

WOW! This was insane but from 5:45 on was just mind blowing. Fantastic performance from Sonny and the band.

One of my absolute favorite drummers of all time! Sonny Emory has it all…such power, speed and feel…he’s so clean, you can damn near see every stroke, despite his phenomenal speed! He performed with Earth 🌍, Wind 💨, & Fire 🔥, for a spell, which I’m sure he enjoyed, however, performing with “Elements of the Universe”, with the exception of them incorporating a solo within the show structure for Sonny, didn’t really allow Sonny to shine. This guy is an amazing player…I’m always ready to watch, listen and learn from such a great player! 🕶🥁🎵🎼🎶🎤🎭

What a groove! Sonny spinning it out, as only he can do!

Saw him play with Bruce Hornsby opening for Pat Metheny back in August. He really is an incredible drummer. I was so blown away, he did things I never heard anyone do before with all his cow bells and wood blocks. I'll never forget that show.

The way he keeps count on the Hi hat reminds me of my drum instructor/mentor Lino Reyes(RIP)..Lino kept that Hi hat clapping no matter what he was doing around the drums...This brother does the same...

Im 85 years old still ride my motor cycle, and always wanted to play the drums. Lucky for me I have the best drummer in the world to play for me. I watch drummers of all ages, from four years old to 80, and there's no one that can compare to Sonny Emory. I watch him regularly, and no other drummer can do what he does.
