watching this in 2021 and i used to watch this every saturday morning before a game of rugby because SBW was such and inspiration to me when i was younger

first time I met SBW was 2004. after he played his first test for the Kiwis against Oz. full time 14-14. sbw man of the match. he treated me like I was his role model. what a champion!!!!

The man is a legend - SBW, All Black WC winner, Tri Nations winner, NRL Grand Final winner, NZ Heavyweight Boxing champ. Yes, made a few mistakes with contracts etc in younger days BUT what a legend nonetheless. In fact, SBW is actually the greatest sportsman to come from down under or arguably the world.

Goes on a 5 year hiatus from the game, only to come back in 2013 to win a Premiership with the Roosters... who does that? Only SBW!! Previous year before that, he won a Super Rugby title with the Chiefs in 2012. He's a playmaker and a game changer to whichever team he goes too. When he turns up, he TURNS UP 🔥🔥🔥

An awesome league player. Took the line on. Made good decisions. Distributed. Sense of awareness. Could score. Hitman. Too much

yes it's a business, with what the dogs culture was like at that time I would've fucked off too, was it right, no. if nrl had an issue with it they wouldn't have allowed him back in to set an example. now you see players try getting out of contracts or changing managers to get more money etc and you can argue that it comes down to this. but I'm glad that he did come back, done extremely well

Maximumsmash Actually his plays were up there with the best that year. The Roosters only lost 6 games all season I think, and it was Sonny Bill that was a heavy influence on that. His ability to bust and offload was unbelievable in 2013. He was also a master at drawing 3-4 defenders and throwing a cut out pass to create overlaps or line breaks, like having a 3rd half on the field. Only salty Bulldog fans refuse to recognise his magic and the influence he had on his team that year.

SBW is my favourite player in nrl

What a legend, I hope he comes back and brings skill in a forward back to the nrl

Wins a title with the doggies in his first season is the youngest ever to play for the bulldogs in a grand final goes to rugby. His contract with Toulon ended in June 2010; in the same year Toulon reportedly tabled a three-year, $6 million offer to Williams, while the New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) came up with a $550,000 per year deal. He was also offered the French number twelve jersey at the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Williams rejected Toulon's offer-reportedly the largest in rugby union history-and opted to sign with the NZRU in a bid to play for the All Blacks. For all you haters i hope you read this and can kinda learn to appreciate this man he is an internationally ELITE athlete and success follows him like flies on shit but more importantly he is a humble polynesian and a human being he should go down as the most elite athlete down under in all codes. Congrats sonny you may have made a mistake in your young career. But you are also the most scrutinised sports player down under. you are a true professional and have not put a foot wrong away from the sport. You are light years ahead in your business decision making. You have shown that you don't have to close your options taking up long contracts because it devalues your own ability because if you improve your form skill and abilty, your monetary value will stay the same.
