Thank you 👍😀 Yes, we also love the sound of beautiful birds, but they are often spoilt by the noise of lawnmowers or aircrafts. 😠

It's a beautiful bird. However, its beak looks very pointed and sharp. That's how he got his name. Thank you and have a nice weekend!

👍 #23 A Super Bird! (Is it a member of the 'Shrike' family?) ... Their call doesn't sound threatening, but the smaller birds obviously know when its around and as you say, they will sound their alarm calls to each other and stay hidden. Don't want to end up pickled on a spike! A great watch thank you my friend. 👍◕‿◕

Thank you very much for watching and for your very nice comment. 😀👍
Great footage of this little guy. We have lots of them nesting at our place but they stay hidden most of the time. The youngsters are usually more approachable. I guess they have all the space they want so they don't have to put up with us two gawking at them😅👍

😂👍Thank you, as always, for your kind, funny and informative comments. Beautiful birds. We can hear them quite frequently, but they don't often stop by; they seem very shy.
Most birds have to swallow their prey whole. A couple that I know, had an aviary of colourful finches. Couldn't understand how, one by one, the finches were disappearing. They investigated. BIrds in cages use the wire mesh as a perch and they just look at the other birds and where they are planning to fly to next. They are easy prey for a butcherbird which stabs them through the wire. The little corpse drops to the bottom of the aviary, close to the wire where it is easy for the butcherbird to poke his long beak in, and use its hook to dismember the finch and pull the bits out through the wire mesh.

Wow, that's an interesting story. No wonder they are called butcherbirds. Fortunately, we haven't seen the butcherbird in action, but we hear them every day. They sing very well.
That was really interesting. We have in Poland great grey shrike which behaviour is similar. Best wishes! 👍

Europian grey shrike is much more serious predator comparing to a butcher bird. I have a couple of young birds in my back yard. Fledgings arrived 18 months ago and started to ask us for food. We saw them driving avay crows, once a butcher bird hit the dow and dow lost few feathers. But no attacks on smaller birds, lizards and mice and all prey so far were insects.
Thanks so much especially for foregoing annoying music, instead allowing us to hear the butcherbird’s song. I’m trying to identify all the native birds in my Melbourne region

We do our best to maintain the native sounds, however, dealing with occasional disturbances like neighbor's Victa mower or overhead planes can be challenging. Thank you for appreciating the natural sounds in our videos! Identifying native birds in your region sounds like a fantastic project! Wishing you the best of luck in your endeavor.
