    Love the butcher birds, they sing for you while you work your garden beds and then clean up any grubs and worms left behind. Smart little things, and totally unafraid.

    This happened with My dad and our cockatiel. He'd be out doing the gardening and the bird would be doing his thing indoors, whistling away. He'd have to point back at the house, "It was the bird!" haha

    I've had a family of Butcher birds visiting me nearly every day for the past five years, great little mates. Both Magpies & butcher birds are very intelligent & beautiful singers. Nice video buddy. When I've hand fed the magpies that used to visit me daily (for the mince steak) they would sometimes sit on my arm. Both species can be so friendly. Awesome birds to have around the house.

    This was nice 2 watch.Its 4am and whilst emailing,I decided to take a little break and put on something interesting 4 my little cat,Chloe,who has been sitting on my lap watching my boring work on the screen. I looked up 'Bird videos for cats" & found yours by chance in the same general area. However,I like this vid myself,and, seeing as its Australian I felt at home, so Ive subscribed. (I'm in Melbourne). (PS- Chloe liked it too- she watched it twice,so Ive saved it for her). thanks folks,Susan

    Catch a huntsman or cricket or something and chuck it at one of them. Watch them catch it mid air and then rip it to shreds... Magpies suck, they can't seem to catch mid air and butcherbirds way more efficient at breaking down their foods. Very appropriately named :D

  • @robman2095

    @robman2095

    After 8 years you might not get this but it is because they are known to hang their food on a twig like a butcher hangs meat on a hook if they want to store it for a while, although I think they usually eat what they catch when they catch it.
