This mash-up of “Something Just Like This" and "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2" is one of our most intricate arrangements yet. When Liszt wrote music, especially for his 19 Hungarian Rhapsodies, it’s like he was piling material from several “hit songs” into a compilation of dazzling, finger-flying feats of melody and harmony. We picked our favorite themes from his staggering Second Rhapsody and wrote them right on top of the sticky melodies and chord progressions from “Something Just Like This.” The idea was inspired by our recent tour, which included a concert in the incomparable city of Budapest, where the model for this match-up was molded. We present, “Something Just Like Liszt!"

"Typically I have to stick to public domain music so that I don’t violate copyright. This project was super exciting because I got to work with more current music thanks to the Piano Guys! One rule I follow when I make Line Rider videos is that I have to love the music I’m using. If I don’t, I’m in for a rough time because I have to replay the chosen song thousands of times while creating the track. Thankfully, I loved “Something Just like Liszt” just as much the last time I listened to it as I did the first time. When presented different options for Piano Guys music I could choose from, I immediately was inspired and knew this was the one. The entire track consists of nearly seven thousand synchronized lines which I drew all by hand in the game Line Rider. I lost track of how much time it took me to create the whole video over multiple months, but I do know it took 135 work sessions because that’s how many save files I have. My favorite part is when all 4 riders come together to the same path and travel through the starry night. This section was inspired by the original album art for the piece, and represents how the Piano Guys harmonize together as a team. Thank you to Craig Knudsen for reaching out to me, and thanks to the Piano Guys for collaborating with me. And special thanks to David Lu for his work on the custom character design and implementation." -Mark Robbins (Doodle Chaos)

Yay it’s finally posted! I still get emotional from this music even though I played it thousands of times while making this video. It took a super long time to synchronize with 4 riders, but it was worth it. Thanks for reaching out to me for this collab!

Mark, we couldn’t be happier with how this turned out. You are a genius. Truly. We hope this inspires kids out there further to practice their instruments until they feel like Line Riders - flying, floating, gliding, cruising, and sometimes just coasting underneath a canopy of stars. Thank you so much for ALL the hard work and so many hours you put into this. If only I could practice the cello as much and as well as you doodle! 😁 -Steven # (The one with the chartreuse scarf)

Mark of DoodleChaos inspires us - He is so passionate about his art that he puts countless hours into it. Much of creativity is about commitment. About not giving up. About believing in something so much that obstacles are recrafted into stepping stones. It’s when work and joy finally meet. Thank you Mark!

jAujAl1 Yes! I love the PianoGuys' music, and DoodleChaos's Lines. I found this song on accident and fell madly in love with it so much that I'm gonna use it in my 8th grade graduation slideshow, and I was looking up this song, I saw this, and I thought, "There is no way that the PianoGuys made a line rider." This brings me so much satisfaction.

I love the animation and the Piano - Cello as always! Add in that I LOVE Coldplay, and it is such the best! More Coldplay covers! More Coldplay covers and DoodleChaos!
I was really confused, because I thought this was another video from Doodlechaos, but for some reason it looked a bit different and had the Piano Guys logo on it. Of all the collabs I thought I'd see, this was probably one of the last on that list. And surprisingly I know both channels. This is cool.

Thank you IOUT! Part of the reason for this collab is teachers often tell us they use our videos in their classrooms. We LOVE hearing that! So we created this video in hopes that teachers would show their students this “old school video game” mashup up with sheet music - perhaps opening a little opportunity to talk about the language of music (there are some funny musical terms we’ve inserted just for them.) And while they’re watching they are being fed with the nutrition of classical music carefully woven into Coldplay!

I used this song at my wedding last year - there's a tradition in Jewish weddings where the bride walks around the groom 7 times as a symbol of building their new home and conquering his heart. This song helped set a fun a sweet tone ❤

not animation. a game called Line Rider. Fun little toy where you draw lines for a sledder to ride down them. was really popular back in the early days of youtube (2006ish-2010)
Absolutely beautiful music with such talented musicians and animators. I love the cello's deep timbre, and want to yell out "Wheeeee!" as the bicycles are ridden down the hill, tumbling over yet somehow safe, and looking like so much fun!
When I was in the 5th grade we were asked by our music teacher to "draw what we saw" when a piece of music was played. You did that here, I love it.

Congrats Doodlechaos for making the line rider, it's awesome ! :D
Me: Gets a notification: Oh, the piano guys posted something! Wait, it says line rider in the title? Did they make a line rider video? Starts the video (instant full screen) wait what? Doodle chaos? Ohhh I see, doodle chaos made a line rider cover of a piano guys song! Cool Gets to the end, sees the piano guys logo, wait what? Did they commission this or something? Leaves full screen, sees it was in fact on the piano guys channel, WHAAAT??? they did make a line rider vid!?! Well, alright then, that’s cool, I guess I’ll make a comment about the weird concussions I jumped too, sees comment from doodle chaos; OH I GIVE UP ALREADY!

Piano Guys plus Line Rider is everything I needed in life and more!
Amazing use of the line rider game. One of the best music videos so far.
I was horrified when Steven went off the "line cliff" at 1:12, and quite relieved to see him back a few seconds later. Kudos to you guys for jumping way out of the usual Piano Guys video box. The whimsical scarves and hats are a nice touch. But please, continue to bring us your beautiful location-driven vids as well. And let's hear some more from Al - great singer! I'm a huge fan of you guys. In the "trapped on a desert island with songs from only five artists" scenario, you're definitely one of the five. Warren Ells The Note Factory Studio Nashville, TN
