    Michelle, good on you for assisting with the development of the young ladies in your area. Paul, always good to see you don't make excuses for the things you didn't do the proper way the first time and then have to go back and fix. You give the real reason, own it, and then proceed with the fix. Because we ALL do that occasionally.

    Paul, I have a LQ9 in a 55 Chevy w/air, using a 160 degree thermostat. 100+ degrees here in Missouri and it is running at 175 to 180 w/air on. Parked the electric fan will cycle w/the air on. 160 degree unit was recommended by my hot shot tuner, he says LS computers like lower temps, and won't pull timing when you nail it. Just say'n, keep up the good work.

    Good effort Paul, but if you don’t mind I have a bit of advice for you. Those are the wrong style coolers, you will get a lot more cooling from the pancake style than you will from those tube and fin coolers like you’re using. With those temperatures on such a short drive I’m betting you’re running the cooler through your radiator as well which is another mistake. Just plumb a pancake cooler independent and I guarantee you it will run much cooler. I just have one large pancake cooler running independently on my AOD and it’s running way cooler than my engine even with aggressive driving.

  • @Alternate_Ending

    @Alternate_Ending

    what do you mean by pancake style? I did a search and came up with hits regarding bisquik. I saw 3 types of coolers: tube and fin, plate and fin and stacked plate.

    I took Paul's suggestion and bought a " Vapor" compressed air sprayer. The one that he used to cleans the sand out of the axle housing. Paul said "if you guys don't have one of these you need to get one" $42 on Amazon. Paul was right, I put gasoline in it and use it to start vintage motorcycle that haven't been run in several months. Vintage motorcycles don't have a fuel pumps, so once the carburetor dries up it is difficult to get the gas to flow correctly from the gas tank, into the lines and into the float bowl. I use this pressurized sprayer to force gasoline into the lines and into the float bowl, works like a charm, the start right up. It is sort of like "fuel injection".

Nice you got some rain down in Southern Utah. BTW, I could be wrong but it looked like the headlight bezel on the FJ is mounted upside down. The thick side is supposed to be on the top. Not really a biggie but it’s a distinction that Landcruiser guys get in a twist over. Haha. Keep up the great work!
