I bought a new comet 108 EXP clutch for an old Indy 650 I had, I marked it with a pencil to install the weights and spring, I couldn't find my marks after so I just guessed. It was way off balance, it spider cracked the clutch faces and twisted my crank up like a pretzel lol. I use a center punch and a hammer to mark everything now. The timing of everything is critical to keep it balanced.

I knew to mark it but the pencil didn't do the job, I must have rubbed the mark off when I installed it. When that belt blew it sounded like a grenade going off! The worst part was it took me 4 hours to get the old clutch off, I had to use an angle grinder and cut off wheels. That sucker was welded on. The puller stripped all the threads out, tried grease, teflon tape trick water trick heat impact gun no luck. That ended my season really fast, new clutch went into the trash after 3 miles. The crank twisted out of phase and destroyed itself. I was younger and had less patience lol. I was trying to save money by doing it myself.
