"Somebody" (Soundcheck with Alan Wilder and Martin L. Gore)
This was recorded at the soundcheck for the Royal Albert Hall benefit concert on February 17th 2010, for the Teenage Cancer Trust (www.teenagecancertrust.org/).
This is the first time Alan performed with Depeche Mode since the Summer Tour of 1994 ("The Exotic Tour").

I have nothing but respect for the work Dave, Fletch and Martin have done as a three piece. But.. wow. To see Alan at the piano with Martin.. for a moment Depeche Mode seemed whole again. Beautiful.
For me, Alan Wilder is Depeche Mode as its supreme level. A complete master and genius.
I've always felt Alan was the best compliment to Gore and Gahan. And since he's been gone... none of their post 4 albums really have the musical resonance nor emotion that previous albums had with Alan. He always felt like the musical orchestrator, and performer of the band. Alan worked endlessly with each of Gore's songs - to guide them in a direction that gave us such iconic anthems. Now... DM relies on outside producers to give them their sound. And it hasn't worked as well IMO.

There are all these guys walking around the stage in the presence of MLG and Alan Wilder performing "Somebody" and they act like they're installing a new shower in someone's house. I'd be frozen in awe of the moment.

OMG alan wilder is the key member of Depeche Mode. The best albums were recording with him
I had tears in my eyes, my breath caught, no other ballad in the world is as expressive, as beautiful as this one by Alan Gore and Alan Wilder. Depeche Mode a gift that we have to appreciate. And I'm a 57-year-old man who's been through all stages of life and I'm really tough, but I'm melting like I did when I was at the Depeche Mode live concert in Pasadena in 1988. That ship has sailed unfortunately, especially after Andy’s passing? If Wilder returned, it would make Fletch look like THE guy who caused him to leave in back in ‘95?(which isn’t the case). Dave+Martin+Alan: whatever they do together could never be any failure. So please do someting together (for us) once more! ❤️
Beautiful... Alan and Martin never missed a beat, such a beautiful song!! I only wish I was there, taking in this special moment.
Its been more than 30 years when I first heard "See You". I was a kid in England and hooked since then. To be honest, I did not expect they can last this long. Look at other 80's bands who consider to be more successful. Where are they now ? Duran Duran, Culture Club, FGTH, Spandau Ballet and so on..... Love Live Depeche !
I was so lucky to be there... great concert and great location...
This made me go back and listen to some of Alan's early Recoil stuff when he was in DM. Man half of what I love about DM was his contribution, just brilliant atmospheric synths married to Martin's melody and Dave's voice. That was the formula. Too bad things didn't work out.
alan wilder: my "hero" for life time. what a gifted musician. and one of the best songwriters around the world! together they were a great team i think and made timeless pieces of music, didn't they ??
I miss Alan as a member of the group; at least this shows they get along still (or did four years ago). It brings me back. Le sigh...

Good to see Alan at least with Depeche Mode, even though it may not be in the studio. Amazing performance, as well.
I didn't care for Alan before really, but I've come to realize what work he did for Depeche. It was when I tried to look inside all those fans that had grown up with him and the chock through tears that came with all things that had to with him leaving back in the days, and the fear of course, what DM were heading after that. And I really feel for him now, but I can also understand Martin at the same time.

I think Dave and Martin just can’t let go of the grudge. I think they felt that Alan left them in their time of need, and they just can’t forgive him for that, or for trying to get credit and recognition for his work, especially during those very difficult times. The whole Memento Mori sentiment, and loss of Fletch, would have made this the perfect time for a real reunion, but the ship has sailed.
Memorable, beautiful and so peaceful ❤ ❤ ❤ Both Martin and Alan are so incredibly gifted.
