That night I went for a walk, a light rain was falling and I was crying of happyness. As I came back home I knew I needed to listen this song, I did It.

Dave is in my life 1981 and he all ways will be ,listening to his music at in car ,and going to sleep ❤🎉

It rained heavily during their show in Prague to a point of us getting soaked through within minutes right before they were about to go on stage, and I took the moment to loudly sing this trying to rile up the crowd and hoping that will prompt the band to play this. Wishful thinking, I know, especially considering that where I was standing, NOBODY around me knew the song. So this version is the closest I get to my wish coming true, thank you!

True he’s still sounding good for an almost 62 year old. The live concerts I don’t think we’re hearing the best of his voice as he’s prancing about the stage and using up so much energy. He’s never gonna stand still for long lol. Wish I’d seen them at their peak.

Thank you very much! I'll do my best until AI will make my manual efforts to merge audio and video from various songs obsolete. No AI involved. There are tools that allow to extract vocals. Did that for both the acoustic version by Martin performed during last/this years tour as well as for the album version. Imported it into a music production software (digital audio workstation) to combine the audio tracks into one song. Changed the pitch to make it sound slightly deeper than on the album version so it sounds more like the „old“ Dave rather than the younger one from the album version. All possible without AI. The challenging part was the video. It’s a ton of manual work to find a video and to cut it into snippets in order to „lip sync“ it to make it look like Dave is singing. The sync didn’t work all the time but overall I think it a nice illusion.

No, vocals extracted from album version, melody extracted from live acoustic version and stitched together in a digital audio workstation. Quite „old school“. The most effort is to try to get a video from another song to be somewhat in sync with the song.

Just old school extracting of vocals and mixing of songs. Done with a lot of love without any AI. Any AI would be flawless while in this remix/mashup one can clearly hear and see the manual work that went into it.

Why doesnt he use this singing style all the time ? After 93 / 98 it was gone 😢

The vocals have been extracted from the album version and turned into a slightly lower tone, that´s why it sounds so much like his voice used to sound in the early days. As everything else, also the voice ages. This is true for pretty much every singer I know. Only Robert Smith from The Cure managed somehow to still sound like he did in the 80s, which is insane, no idea how this is even possible

Another singer that keeps HIGH QUALITY and style is David Gilmour from Pink Floyd. I think Dave Gahan still can sing like that but it looks like he's been trying to sound more "Rock & Roll" and also trying to show that they reinvented themselves. Even his weird dancing performance nowadays seems to be like that. Honestly I prefer the late 80's-early 90's Dave.

The description explains it: This is a mashup of the melody of the acoustic live version sung by Martin, but Martin´s voice is replaced by Dave´s vocals from the album version. The video is actually "Speak To Me" live version as well as "My Favorite Strange" live version to create the illusion of Dave singing "But Not Tonight". It´s an imagination on how it would sound. No AI but done with quite common tools used for remixes and video editing. Why? Because I love this song and as we will never see Dave singing this song, I created something that gives a glimpse into how it could sound.

"What if Dave were to sing But Not Tonight", it says right in the beginning of the video. This is how it could sound if Dave were to sing the 2023/24 live arrangement of the song. We´ll obviously never get to hear it in this version since Dave didn´t sing this song in decades anymore. But for us fans this is a nice day dream when listening to it.

That might be the reason for him to not sing it live anymore since decades, although I personally think he could still make it sound like in this mashup. The album version of his vocals have Bernd used in this mashup with a slight change of the pitch to make his voice sound a bit deeper, like it sounds these days
