No you guys must be young and don't know what real love is. Listen to the lyrics. He is describing everything Ti Moune is and that in fact is what he loves. He loves her but his culture and status won't permit it. In the play he tries to tell his father but his father let him know that he just can't be with her because she is not at his status. That is why he has no choice but to marry the girl his status dictates But listen to the song. " Some girls you marry, some you Love".

I think this song is really clever at showing how close minded and selfishDaniel is. From the way he describes her in this song just seems like he's projecting his frustrations with high society women. But the melody sounds like a love song because that's how Ti Moune perceives it. idk maybe I just like to hate on Daniel. Ti Moune deserved better. But to be fair if I had Issac Cole serenade me like that I'd fall in love with him too. I mean he could sing a whole song calling me a piece of shit but if he sang like that i'd die for him too.

But even during that moment of wonder, he's still not choosing her. True love defies all odds. Daniel loved her, but he didn't love her enough. Meredith Grey said it best, "Pick me. Choose me. Love me."

If you think about it, this song it somewhat of an insult to Ti Moune. He's basically calling her uneducated, uncultured, and a child. But dang, do I love Issac's voice. OoF-

Well she kind of is... the thing is that some girls strive so hard to be perfect and lose who they are in the inside believing that being smart and cultured is what will make people love them. Whereas Ti Moune, dsepite being uncultered and uneducated, catches his attention because she doesn’t care about any of that and she is true to herself

This is literally ALL I've ever wanted since I discovered OOTI. Any Isaac singing-content is precious bc they're rare.

truly one of those where at first listen it's incredibly charming and romantic but after listening to the lyrics better it's just a big yikes for daniel's character -- afraid of being with women "better" (more skilled, sophisticated, educated, cultured, clever, etc.) than him, "you're not like other girls" vibes, etc (don't be mistaken though isaac's AMAZING and this rendition is so so lovely!!)

now that im reading analyses i realized that daniel here is a red flag but isaac is so prince-like that at first listen i completely disregarded the words bc i was too busy listening to his voice and looking at him so 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I remember buying the original broadway cast album on a whim years and years ago when the musical was new, knowing nothing about the show, and being absolutely enchanted as I listened to it. Then it got to this song, and to the line at the end, and I gasped. A real Hans turn before there was even a Hans.
