Somatic mobility exercise | Circles with the lower arm

Classic methods of mobility training might include stretching, strengthening, elastic bands, kettle bells, biofeedback with motion tracking analysis, EMG and many others. Allow me to show you something completely else.
There's only one downside: you need to experience it in order to know it. Just watching the video won't be enough. I wish you a good time rolling!

I have had chronic pain in my neck and shoulder for years. The challenge for me was to move my arm so slowly while doing the arm circles on my back, that the stabbing pain did not arrive. Very exciting. Lying on my stomach almost always hurts my neck anyway, so I had to stop the lesson and realize that even with Feldenkrais I can reach my physical limits. I might try again, first I´ll do the "Tight Neck Course" But I can see, feel and almost taste the pleasure you get from the movement - not without envy. In the meantime I can say: I hardly spend as many evenings with anyone as I do with Alfons 😀. It is really great how you transmit this wonderful Feldenkrais magic art (?). Especially through your differentiated words one notices how deeply you have experienced the great holistic potential of Feldenkrais, how you live it, and how you convey it with love. But also your carpet deserves a compliment and makes me envious. In my case, the hand has to slide over yoga mat, cold floor, lambskin..... stumbling.... If I could I would be a patron, if I win the lottery I would come for 100 private lessons. Thank you for all the free videos and your lived passion for Feldenrais that you share with us. Sorry, Deepl will translate for me, but anyway, you are a perfect broken English speaker 😜.

I had 2 high floor lamb wool mats before (1,2m x 2m) but I did so many hours of Feldenkrais on them they both were completely worn out and had to be disposed 😆 What I have now are really nice mats, but made from polyester or something. If you go to a carpet store you might find something more cozy that is of more organic nature and really inviting to lie down and roll around… or take naps on 😁 Thank you for your passionate comment!

I like to thank you Sir for making such a great video, too by a great professional like your self. I am a mover (hence attracted to this lovely channel )and in my opinion, without movement a person like me or even a great thinker would perish, coz we a just modern cavemen (meant to hunt or move).

I noticed the subtle critique of Peterson within the first minute, and I applaud you for it. I am extremely far from being enamoured with his rhetoric to say the least, I honestly think he's nuts, but not everything has to be an overt attack to get the point across. A maxim I just broke I realize... Let's pretend it was for comedic effect 😁 The movement sequence is amazing. My shoulders feel light and fluid.

My favourite psycholinguists are Frank Smith and Stephan Krashen, I love their work. They have a lot to say about language acquisition and learning. However, they would be hardly recognisable on a thumbnail… However, in hindsight the Peterson critique (and critique of "thinkers" in general, the ones who split the atom, that is created the idea of body and mind being separate entities, etc) seemed to have introduced some fierceness in my speech, not sure if I like it. But well, it was worth a try, an experiment .. 😅

It comes to temperament. Phleumatics and Melancholics are more to the "thinking" side, whereas Cholerics and Sanguines are more to the "doing and moving" side.

Thank you for your objection, it helps me to improve how I phrase my thesis. This video is about creating (and experiencing) movement lessons in the way I did in this video, somewhat in the style of Moshé Feldenkrais (a pioneer of Somatic Education.) The topic might be phrased as “Can essays be written without words, in movement only? What constitutes a good essay in movement? And will that improve our ability to think, sense, feel and move?” It’s not about the four classic temperaments by Greek philosopher Claudius Galenus (216 AD).

I cut quite a bit from my speech, thought the critique is harsh enough as it is now in the final edit. Certainly not a push, just tried to find common grounds with what’s popular on KZread and take it from there. Thank you for your comment!
