Thanks for watching the video. Glad to know it helps. Yes, the shroud could be locked quite tightly by the plastic hooks; I was also worrying that I might tear off the whole thing, haha. Good that you have made it.

Last ditch effort taking it apart. Try to take a shopvac to the other end of the drain and suck out the blockage out of the drain tube

Thank you so much for the very useful video! Couldn't get the hooks off without one breaking.... and discovered the drain was plugged! I removed the black rubber 'cork' and water came shooting out. Is there another drain path besides the one you're showing on the left side? Or did my installers just mess up?

The hooks could be locking the plastic cover at the top quite tightly. In my case, I used a flat head screwdriver as leverage. I got a screwdriver that was long enough so that I could inserted the flat tip into the groove between the plastic cover at the top and the main chassis. With the flat tip inserted, I turned and moved the screwdriver slightly to help loosen the case. There is not much room for turning and moving indeed. I inserted the screwdriver's flat tip at different positons along the groove and repeated the maneuver. I then tried to pull the plastic cover to get rid of the small hooks. However, it does requires some force to pull out the cover from the main chassis. In fact, I was worrying that I might break the cover somehow. I hope it also works for you. Be cautious anyway, you surely don't want to break it.

4:34 I couldn't get that 2nd screw on the right side. Also, my drain line is on the right side of the machine, so I have no clue how to clear any clog on that side if I can't lift the unit

I unclogged and drained my air con but the thing is it keeps leaking 20 to 30mins after it’s been drained only to take it apart and find out it’s full again any ideas??

Would it be possible that it is not just clogged at the drain outlet of the air con, but also the connecting ducts and pipes beyond that ??

Same here, I bought the air-con for just more than a year and leaking began to start like pouring water, which was very disappointing. The air-con was still quite new indeed and therefore I decided to open it to see what had happened. The leakage was found to be due to dust clogging the drain, and fortunately not caused by other more difficult technical problems. Perhaps the environment is too dusty and I need to clean the filter more frequently.

Not really, but you don’t need to do that. get a mini split cleaning kit from Amazon sized for your unit. It slips over the housing easily. You can remove the air vane as shown in this video. With a flashlight you should be able to aim it upward and see the blower wheel for inspection. If it’s dirty, get a can of AC coil spray cleaner at Lowes, etc. Spray it on the wheel, and let it soak for 15 minutes or so. You may need to manually rotate the blower wheel with a non-metallic tool to apply the spray to the entire wheel. After it soaks for a while, you can rinse off the blower wheel with a pump up bug/fertilizer spray bottle filled with water. Inspect for cleanliness and repeat if necessary. You will be amazed how much gook will come from the wheel. It’s worth noting, that if you lift the left end of the evaporator coil as shown in this video too far or too much, it’s possible to crack a soldered fitting on the pressurized refrigerant tubes. This will render the unit junk and require replacement of the coil, which is a very expensive service call. My guess is the unit shown in this video doesn’t get sufficient airflow because it’s too close to the ceiling and the efficiency isn’t optimal. There should be at least a foot of open space above the unit. Sometimes they have to be installed that way, but it should be avoided.

Thanks. It is not too difficult to open the case; you probably need 1 or 2 people to help out. I did it by myself. The thing is quite heavy. Alternatively, I am thinking if there is any solvent that can dissolve the dust at the drain, then it would be an easy way out. I have not idea yet; may be something mildly acidic (?), we surely we don't want to damage the air-conditioner, the drain, etc., with the solvent.

I use a mixture of baking soda powder and vinegar 3 spoon to a cup and the rest In vinegar after mixing it in the cup I pour it into the drain tray and let it sit then repeat but if it doesn’t drain I use a piece of wire to probe the drain as it usually gets blocked at the trays first bend and once you get a little blockage to clear pour in the solution and repeat and let it sit for about 6 hours and it should clear out the entire line preventing overflow all over your walls
