I have been looking for how to solve the problem for over 8 months. Finally solved. Thanks a million, I asked a few plumbers and couldn’t get an answer.
Excellent advice.. had water hammer after adding some pipework.. drained and re-pressurised system as you said and its fixed it.. Thank you!
My master bedroom's shower will vibrate whenever the kitchen tap is being used at the same time. Followed your instructions and no more vibrations anymore. Thank you good sir.

Thankyou, I will try to do what you recommend, and thankyou for explaining the difference in water and air pressure.
i can't belive that worked , i was just watching videos about to how install Water Hammer Arrestors and you tube finale sent me to the right place.. i did it and water hammer gone . i am so happy thanks
Thank you! Note: when you flush the toilets for the first time it’s best to slightly press the handle/button to let the water refill slowly cause if you just flush them normally, it will seem like your toilet is about to explode!!!
Thank you so much. Just turning the tap off and on back and forth for five times did the trick for me.
You rock!!! Thanks
It worked! Great tip. Also for anyone doing this with mixer taps thats got cold and hot in one, make sure you drain both sides as I had water from both sides. After draining, slowly test out the taps one by one to let the water back in. I say slowly cos eitherelse it might just blast at you like I experienced 😂 Also flush the toilet afterwards. Thank you so much!😊
try opening the taps at the lowest point first to push air out at that level followed in order until you reach the outlet that is the highest. all air should be pushed out
I was too irritated with sudden vibrations on my kitchen taps while using .. I searched for solutions on internet .. Finally found your video .. used same technique as you did ..Result was amazing..Vibrations gone like a magic 👍 It really worked .. Thanks for sharing such a helpful tips 👍

This issue is due to (unregulated) water pressure. For long term solution, install water hammer arrestors.
It worked! Thank you 🙏
The problem is usually due to a faulty valve in one of the tap. Good to have isolation ball valves in every tap. Shut each isolation valve and find the fault.
Love it. Thank you.

When you got a partially turned on faucet and you have the loud vibrating that is not water hammer. Its a loose washer either on the faucet or on the supply stops. Water hammer is when you shut a faucet real quick, or when your washer or toilet fills etc. you have a loud bang.
@ThePunggolHandyMan
Жыл бұрын
Hi Thanks for your comment! The loose washer combined with the water hammer effect causes a phenomenon called hydraulic ram which is the vibrating sound you hear. The root cause is still water hammer. Thank you for watching tho! Check out this video for more information kzread.info/dash/bejne/rHqY29ONd9uZYqQ.html

Can you help with this? We came home with Sunday afternoon. We live in a condo community. We came home to the walls vibrating noisily . The neighbor had been snaking the pipe in his shower. After an hour we went and knocked on the door. He said that he actually stopped an hour before. But the knocking continued. We turned off our toilet water, and it stopped. We turned it back on and then knocking returned, as well as, the toilet refilling slowly while making a whining noise. Will an arrestor work for that? (And would the neighbor snaking his shower pipes affect ours?)
Hi,if i have sound in my metal water pipe that is near ceiling whenever i on the tap,is it water hammer? The sound is not very loud,it is like a faint drilling sound in one of the pipe. After i turn off the tap,i can hear a gargle sound in the pipe. Not sure if this is a form of water hammer?
this just started happening in one of my restroom shower faucet! I don't think it's the lowest point, nor the highest point... is there a reason why it's happening there? thanks!
You are good explanation do solve problems. One by one open tap and close only two minutes thanks.

That's not water hammer, water hammer bang once at the time and the pressure valve opens and closes. That's machine gun water?

Usually the root cause is a faulty tap. This is a temporary fix at best but it does happen to any type of home
@matthiasbroek8055

@@ThePunggolHandyMan it’s also my kitchen faucet and dishwasher who are on the same line. Only the hot water has an issue and only when it gets hot. Could that still be water hammer? First you hear a whistling noise followed by the hammer. I tried draining before but will try again. I was also thinking of a faulty faucet but then why would the dishwasher have a similar problem?
@ThePunggolHandyMan

You most probably have a faulty tapnon that line. You can check and see if any of your taps seem lose
@matthiasbroek8055

@@ThePunggolHandyMan I fixed it, apparently there was a three way valve underneath the sink splitting the line towards the tap and the dishwasher. That valve wasn’t all the way open. I opened it and problem fixed. The fact that the dishwasher started causing the noise made me think it was something the tap and dishwasher had in common.
Awesome

Once drained close all taps that were opened, then turn the water main back on? I would assume that air will come through first prior to water? Should this be done at the highest or lowest point?

@@ThePunggolHandyMan now my only question is if you close everything and turn the water on wouldn’t that also trap air? I’m not a plumber, but I would think that if you turn the main on slowly and leave everything open, then all the air would push out if that makes any sense? Lol.
@ThePunggolHandyMan

Yes as I have mentioned in the video this is no way a permanent fix. You have to find the faulty component and address it. This gives you temporary relief from the rattling
Bro i love it im try that when i get home
It lets air into the system to absorb shock but that air will be forced out of taps-allowing hammer to resume

Hi @The Punggol HandyMan! thanks for showing this video! Hope i can ask you a question regards this water hammer... Im living in a landed property. All my bathroom are connected through a water tank for the hot and cold water with solar panel(2 bathroom second floor and one at ground floor). The rest of the tap are run through a master pipe(hope is what the terms call) Like this video, my pipe also facing this issue whenever i closes it will make noise like something is banging the ceiling, is very frustrating. My question is, based on your video, i need to close the main switch first right? Do i need to let the water in the tank to run dry? because is two different switches... the sound it making is when i using the water tank which is from bathroom one.

You just wanna get some air into your pipes. If it is really so bad, you may need to get a water hammer arrestor
Hi sir, i have an issue (old hdb) where the toilet pipes makes a loud sound and vibrate then the shower head starts to leak for 5seconds. is this the cause of a faulty valve / water hammer? Thanks for the video! :D
Help! I live in a mobile home and have pex pipes. After I run the water at my kitchen sink (mainly the hot water) there's knocking/thumping sounds coming from under my dining room floor. I've had the pressure valve changed and lowered water pressure from 100 to 63 but it did not help. It also happens sometimes even when l'm not running the water. This may not be related, but coincidentally around the same time the thumping sound started my floor boards in dining room started to make creaking/snapping sound. Do vou have an idea of what could be causing the knocking/thumping sound under my floor?
@ThePunggolHandyMan
8 ай бұрын
This may be caused by the ram effect. I have a similar setup with my portable sink and it is due to the pressure buildup from the water pump. I dobt have a water hammer arrestor in that setup ant it might explain the knocking. You may try getting a small water hammer arrestor installed and seeing if that helps.

Water hammer is a sign of a leaky valve or a faulty arrestor. Best to get someone to look at it
.A new faucet (a dual spray switch tap that allows to switch between a strong shower setting, and normal stream setting) is installed downstairs. Whenever the downstair neighbor switches to strong flow setting I hear a high pitched water stream noise in my kitchen. The below neighbor uses the high flow setting quite often in the day, and it affects my ears as I have an ear condition called tinnitus. But it's loud enough that even someone without tinnitus would find it annoying (the nails against chalkboard type of sound)..why the noise is coming, Really appreciate any help, thank you!

I’m a bit confused with what you mean by lowest and highest point? I’m on a single story home and everything is basically on the same level. I had our gas internal instantaneous hot water system repaired recently and after a week or so I notice significant hammering around the home and near the unit itself when we shut off any tap at a normal speed. If I turn off the tap very slowly there is no hammering. I’m hoping to fix this problem or else I must call a plumber.
