SOLO Mountain Survival & Escape!!! NO FOOD, NO WATER (Catch & Cook Fishing)

Спорт

After 5 days in the mountains, on a Solo Survival mission, I ran out of food and water. Fishing for food became the last option and after several Trout Catch & Cooks, I had to escape the mountains due to bad weather rolling in. This is part 3 of a 3-Part series.
Part 1: • 5 DAY SOLO Backpacking...
Part 2: • HIGH ALTITUDE Mountain...

Just a heads up. I’ve noticed your sawyer squeeze water filter had been pretty tough to squeeze water through. Which is great because it means the filter is working as intended! But after build up of contaminants/dirt the flow rate slows down and it requires a lot of force to filter water. This is the best time to use the syringe and back flush the filter to try and prevent the bag from failing. Also, you can just carry and plastic water bottle, screw the filter right on top and drink right from the filter. Fish on baby!

  • @NWFishingSecrets

you can get a coupling that mates on your water bottle so you can just backflush that way. saves you from carrying the syringe.

A decent technique if you’ve never tried it, is to use a couple feet of tippet, and then tie on a fly that hangs back from your spinner. The spinner kind of gets the trouts attention, and then they see the fly a couple feet back and take it. You should give it a go!

I can't wait to come back home to Central Washington and start fishing these lakes. 4 years in SE Texas is enough for me. I need my mountains back. Thanks for the inspiration and reminders of home.

Bravo on the success of the trip. I have to say of all the different landscapes you've shown me, I think that the mountaintop here has to be the single most gorgeous landscape I've seen. I really appreciate all those travel tips and safety nods. And congrats! That was one heck of a haul of mushrooms! Impressive!
