From USDA.GOV: Climbing the hillside on the south side of Sabrina Lake, the trail leads to a series of high alpine meadows and lakes in Sabrina Basin surrounded by glacier flanked 13,000 ft. granite peaks. Many day hikers enjoy visiting Blue Lake (2.5 miles). If hikers continue on the trail it will take them to Dingleberry, Hungry Packer, and Midnight Lakes. The side trail to Donkey and Baboon Lake is more rugged and is not recommended for stock. Beyond Blue Lake, bear canisters are the only practical way to store food due to the lack of tall trees. Common Destinations: Sabrina Basin, Blue Lake, Hungrey Packer, , Midnight Lake

I have a wife with several health issues and can not do my dream trips right now. Your videos give me a way to realize the dreams I have of backpacking in MY favorite place... The Sierras! Your videos through the years has been elevated by 10000 points. I also love the way you give all the details at the end! Truly awesome man!

I was researching some hikes to do in this area for my 50th birthday and watched your Chocolate Lakes video and was so impressed (and inspired) I watched this one too and decided to actually do this one as well. I ended up day hiking Big Pines Lakes Loop, Chocolate Lakes Loop, and this one out to Hungry Packer and Midnight Lakes in consecutive days October 16th, 17th, and 18th. (38 miles 8.5k elevation gain) The weather (I scored) was unseasonably warm (low 80's) and there wasn't a cloud in the sky the whole time I was there. They were the 3 BEST hikes I've ever done. I watched your videos over and over while I was doing "step ups" in my apartment as prep. They are very well done and totally inspiring my friend. Thank you.

You really captured the beauty of this area. Your cinematography and storytelling standout amidst all the other hiker videos I've seen...and, I watch a lot of hiking videos :)) I solo hiked for a week in the Sierras this past autumn and now I can't wait to return this summer.

I haven't commented in quite a while but thought I'd take the time to say your videos are as bright, sparkling, and beautiful as always - would that we all had your photography skills (now don't let any of this go to your head). Too, congratulations on becoming a father, may your son's childhood be filled with light, love, and laughter. Cheers!

Another great video. Love Hungry Packer Lake and if you don't want to go far for spectacular scenery, Blue Lake is a shirt and beautiful destination. Your comments on the campsites you spotted on the one lake was helpful, as well as advising against going off trail at the other lake, I don't remember which one, but even looking at the terrain on video it didn't look passable. Great tips.

You call it Sabr-II-na, other bloggers call it Sabr-EE-na. I’ve always called it Sabr-EE-na. But I’ve never heard which is “official” (ie: what the locals, mostly, call it). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. And it goes without saying that this was a really great video. I’m 89 so I’ll never get to see that lower Sierra country again. So many beautiful places in this state and this country. You would have to be rich and live for several hundred years to see them all. Thanks for this video.
