Hiking & Wild Camping the Eastern Sierra's most Popular Trail

A late Summer solo hiking and wild camping adventure under the stars to the Big Pine Lakes (Second Lake to be exact) in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains, California, USA. I ventured as far as Sixth Lake as the trail dissipated and was running out of light - all the reason to head back out :)
Nestled in the breathtaking Eastern Sierra Nevada, the Big Pine Lakes stand as a pristine wilderness jewel, captivating hikers with their alpine allure. This awe-inspiring chain of glacier-carved lakes, set against a backdrop of towering granite peaks, offers an unparalleled high-altitude adventure. Beginning at the Big Pine Creek Trailhead, the trail winds through pine-scented forests, revealing turquoise-hued lakes along the way. The crown jewel, Second Lake, enchants with its mirror-like surface reflecting the surrounding peaks. As you ascend, each successive lake unveils its unique charm, culminating in a surreal alpine landscape. Prepare for a challenging yet rewarding journey through nature's grandeur in the heart of the Sierra Nevada.

Beautifully done. Really captures the feeling of the area. There used to be a rustic resort called Glacier Lodge near the base of the trail that had horses. My family spent a few holidays there before I was born. I googled and was surprised to find it's still there, albeit with changes. When I was about ten, some friends rented horses there and we rode up to all 5 lakes and another called Sam Mack Lake (if memory is correct). On the way down they insisted on galloping the last few miles.... Your video brought it all back.
