My FIRST Catch, Cook & Camp (Backpacking in the Sierras CA)
In this episode, my buddy and I go trout fishing while we backpack in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Along with the beautiful views, I also managed to catch a fish worthy of cooking up in my first ever 'Catch and Cook'.
Sit back, grab a beer, grab a coffee, grab something nice to sip and enjoy!

It was surreal. Thanks for watching
You may want to consider getting some polarized sun glasses - they help you to see through the glare on the top of the water so it's easier to see if there are any fish close by or obstacles you need to avoid.

Beautiful video and music. Brought back wonderful memories of when I hiked the Sierras just west of Lake Tahoe 50 years go. Can't do that anymore, so can really relate to your fine videos.
Loved the mood music. A very nice touch, with the great views. Catch and cook is cool. Congratulations.
Happy for your first catch and cook!!!

Woot woot!!! I knew you could do it! I've always thought of myself as more of a gatherer but, I may give hunting a try now. Thanks!

OMG, Jonathan, the scenery is breathe-taking, the reflection in the water, the beauty of God! And the trout, WOW! I can almost taste it. You can't get much better than this. I'm still loving your coffee "whooooo's"! Coffee Mocha, num, num, num! I'm a 70 year woman with health issues and can't get out and walk like I used to. You put in so much effort in editing and picking out the best music to share your adventures with me. Greatly appreciated! Keep safe. God bless!😘

Just found your channel. Big fan of the Sierra and especially trout fishing those majestic high alpine lakes. Yew!
Loved it
I'll say it again. Your videos deserve so much more views and you deserve more subscribers. More power to you Jonathan! ☝
Your video brings back memories. Many yrs ago my husband & his brothers & I would hike in 2 miles or more to camp & fish. One of us would pack a light small pot to boil the water for coffee & such. And another would pack the cast iron frying pan. Some rice, potatoes, flour, oil, & seasonings to spice the fish or crayfish caught everyday. The cooked fish head was always fought over. It's the tastiest part, along with the eyes.
🙋🏽♀️I really really enjoyed this video 😃🐟congratulations on your catch
Wow-That's very bold of you in climbing up those rocks, but I'm sure that it was definitely worth it-so beautiful!🌄Now that's a bear🐻 container! I'm glad that you didn't give up on catching fish!🐟 For your fish, the seasoning- nothing to it(sea salt, pepper, and olive oil) and for cooking it- easy peasy (a frying pan and a stick to use as a spatula)!🤣😂 Great meal!! Yep, I was expecting that!☕(but with chocolate 🍫,that is a game changer)!
Need more of these type of videos
Another great video

Hell yeah, brook trout are my favorite to catch and cook. Got me excited for the sierra this summer. I'll be up in the mountains for the next couple days but sadly no fish at the lakes I'm heading to for this trip but I'll put up a video. Catch and cooks definitely on the next couple trips though. Just subscribed, hope you put out more videos like this

Nice video…Beautiful lake.
Hell yah Great video...... nice beautiful views
I have a rod just like that and I am glad to see how you are supposed to use it. Thanks!
I found the best trout fishing are the lakes on the June Lake Loop. My brother is well known for his trout catches in the area. He's never been skunked in all the years he fishes up there. He lives in Lake Arrowhead and parks his fifth wheeler up there somewhere during the warmer months. In the winter he stores it in San Bernardino. Beautiful hike and great photography work, Jonathan.
Love this spot my guy

There’s no bad views in the Sierras 😅
Loved the piano music.
My most favorite place in the world- high Sierras. I never tire of gazing at all that granite.
Good job.
I’m backwatching your videos and yelling through my phone…”its a trout stop setting the hook !!!’ Haha. Just Keep tension. Ive been fishing the Eastern Sierras for almost 30 years. Beautiful country. The Western Alps.
“You gonna eat the skin” “Hell nah I ain’t eatin that sh!t” hahah Thanks for the video. Absolutely beautiful out there.
You have the most amazing intros between the drone shots and music. Major Kudos. And how about that squirrel? Gotta be the fattest one I’ve ever seen.

Dude that would be one fat squirrel 😂. I believe that animal was a marmot.
I'd recommend looking into Tenkara (Japanese fly rod) very compactable and great for high mountain lakes. Great video as always.

I’ve been considering getting one. Looks like a lovely style of fishing. Cheers!
Yes, certainly did enjoy watching your video.. I was so happy you actually caught the size you can eat. When will GF come on the fishing trips with you???
Beautiful place. I had seen footage of the High Sierras when I was researching the PCT. One day I'd like to make it there. Congrats on the fish. I am just too chicken to handle the fish. The fishing part I can deal with, it's the killing and cleaning part that I don't like... :)
You should do a video on your hiking/camping gear Great catch btw
Save the best for last, the signature coffee “wooh!”

Woooo! That chocolate coffee was extra good
Looks awesome up there. Bet you would of had a great day on the fly (hint, hint). High alpine lakes are great for dry - dropper rigs. Tight lines!
Brookies in the high country, the best ! Caught those with a gold hook ,no bait in the wemenuche wilderness of Colorado ,whilst Elk hunting ! Best eating fish .
Defiantly would have a drink before walking that!
“ are you eating it?” “Nah I ain’t eating that shit” 😂

Small container of lemon pepper works great for catch n cook backcountry trout
You should've hung your Ursack in a tree and not left it tied to something like a tree trunk or on the ground. Hanging them is the best way. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS location you're at here though. Love it man! Keep the videos comin'
“So far so good” 😂
Nice legs man. Good job on the catch but yeah i would of cut up the fish to fit the pan. Should of gotten a canopy for the Tundra. Can't wait till you get to Alaska.
The best video out there. Can you live there.🤣
And you get to eat the premier taste treat of the Sierra 'Golden Trout' tastes better than any trout you've tried. Altitude keeps them exceptionally tasty🎉
