Solo Female On Her First Motorbike Camping Trip

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here is my first solo camping trip, I talk about the gear I take with me, trying to get my leg over a fully packed bike, and what my experience was like over the long weekend. I didn't travel too far for my first trip, this was about half an hour away from home, at a place called Praa Sands, Cornwall. A beautiful place to visit. As always, thanks for watching, I read all your comments (and try to respond to as many as I can) so please let me know of your own camping experiences or any gear you think I should take with me next time!

Having camped a lot with the bike over the years, your kit list was spot on. You said you used pretty much everything and you made yourself as comfortable as possible. A good quality sleeping bag, sleeping mat and chair are essentials as being cold and uncomfortable is the ruin of any camping trip.

@@TamsenCooper I was thinking about this this last week.. your "Funny female motorbike mechanic moment " reaction is how I wish I could laugh about rounded or stripped bolts. Instead, I'll usually throw a hammer and a tantrum. Neither is particularly useful. Your approach is much better. So you asked about useful items to bring camping in your description--A lifesaver for me has been one of those capacitor jump starters. Two years ago a buddy and I were stranded out in the woods because his enormous Harley wouldn't restart. After taking apart half the bike and realizing it was a vapor lock issue, we got it buttoned back up but had previously killed the battery trying to get it started. We clipped on my jump starter, and the beautiful tranquil forest was immediately enveloped in the boisterous noise of a gigantic harley V-twin rumbling into action. We'd have been pretty screwed out there without it. Oh, and it's nice to have a tarp to lay at the entrance of your tent so you can take your boots/shoes off without dragging in all the dirt and mud. Thanks again.

Hi Tamsen, chick from Portsmouth here. About to buy my other half’s SV650s Curvy off him, it was his bike for the past year after he passed his test and it’s going to me for when I pass mine. The bike needs a lot doing to it and is almost more time than it’s worth but I just love her so much that I want to do her up. The noise she makes is the best, unlike any other motorcycle. Thanks for all your videos, our plan is to go camping when we are allowed as well. Have you thought about installing LED lights or a centrestand? These are things I’d like to do on mine. X

Good luck on your test! Actually, I had bought a set on under lights for the bike, just have not yet found the time to install them! I don't have a need for a centre stand, if I want to do any work on the bike, I tend to use an Abba Stand which lifts it up and is rock solid to do most work on.

I bought a 2000 SV650 thats been in a shed for 6 years. Your videos have been a necessity for me since it needed virtually everything doing to it. Iv seen them all and seriously couldn't have got it running without them. Service manuals and biker forums just dont give me enough info and yours are the only SV650 videos that cover virtually every aspect. The engine strip down one was especially useful for me. Thank you for your videos. Any chance of one about charging systems ? Iv replaced magneto, stator, regulator/rectifier plus bought a brand new battery and its still only producing 12v of charge !!!!! Infuriating

Love it! In fact, I have been riding all winter, during amber weather warnings for Cornwall Blood Bikes on a police spec BMW RTP- Its the only helmet I would choose- comfortable, fits my Bluetooth comms in easily, and the flip up visor is an absolute godsent, so quick and easy too!

Mmm, where did you get that plastic support side stand from @4:39, I remember in the days of old down Santa Pod camping when I saw, "from a distance" my bike just sink into the soft Earth, then again despite there being more bikers about we didn't have all these gadgets (which was so unfortunate as I used to do a lot of bike rallies) so it was either a upside down scaffolding support or a flattened tinned can, beer can of course.

Thank you. The tent was actually a basic 3 man from a local supermarket (about £30), so nothing special. What I think is important, is for it to have an inner liner and an outer skin, that way everything doesn't get damp if the weather turns
