SOLO Camping at Echo Lake Catskills New York
Successfully solo camped at Echo Lake in the New York Catskills Mountain Region. What a beautiful lake with an amazing campsite. You can check this place out by visiting the Platte Clove Reserve (Overlook Trailhead) and hiking in about 6-7 miles to the lake. It’s a pretty straight forward trail as you follow the blue blazes all the way to the lake itself.

thank you! if you solo it over at Echo, just a bit of advice, bring something warm! it gets really windy down in there for some reason. Enjoy!

Nice to see you getting out into this wonderfully peaceful area. The camp looked to be really idyllic. The forest looked a delight to wander through. Lovely images.

Curious, do you carry bear spray in the Catskills? Is it needed? What's your opinion?

I don’t. I think it doesn’t hurt to carry it. As long as you’re not sleeping with your food, you’ll be ok statistically.

If you check out AllTrails, the trailhead has a small parking lot you can park at. It’s over by Platte Clove Preserve.

too bad the video didn't show the mosquitos, bees, gnats, ticks, poison ivy and other uglies of camping outside... the music was nice though!

I honestly hate mosquitos but on this day whenever it was, there were none. It was cooler I supposed!
