New Solo ESQUIF Adirondack Canoe | Camping on a Small Island (First Trip 2024)

Ойын-сауық

To start of this years camping season I decided to finally get a canoe that would hopefully make portaging a little bit easier. This Esquif Adirondack weighs about half of what my old canoe weighs which has me excited to get out on some more challenging adventures. I decided to go camp on an island for the night to try out the new canoe and get out for the first trip of the year.

I have the same canoe. I pack a 60L barrel in front, a 100L canoe pack behind me, and sometimes a 20L roto mold cooler between my legs. Im 160 lbs, so it's perfect for me, 1 week trips are no problem.

Congratulations on the new canoe. I picked up a blue Adirondack at the beginning of March. I've had it out about 15 times now and absolutely love mine. Can't wait to get it out camping in the Adirondacks with my small dogs..... Enjoy

That’s awesome! Can’t wait to get out on mine on a actual trip. The Adirondack’s looks like a beautiful area to camp. I’ll have to get out there one day.

Congratulations on your Esquif Adirondack canoe. I purchased the same canoe in March of 2023 and I absolutely love it. Likeven you, I spent 2 years doing research on pack boats. I put in a removable yoke as well. Be safe and enjoy this year with your new canoe. Cheers

Thank you! I just did a big trip in Algonquin and this canoe made it so much more enjoyable. I was surprised how well it handled rough waters. Can’t wait for more adventures in the canoe

So, I just purchased an Adirondack and I'm struggling to determine what size kayak paddle to get. I was wondering how tall you are and what size paddle you're using. I'm 5'6" and I'm hoping you can help me out. Nice video. I hope you enjoy your summer.

Just had this video suggested. In October I will be 14 years sober myself. I’m so happy for you and the new path in life you have chosen to follow. I found a used solo canoe (Bell Wildfire) and though not as lightweight as yours, it has made a huge difference in my ability to get outdoors with my advanced rheumatoid arthritis. Hopefully your canoe will serve you well for many years! BTW, what tent are you using in this video?

That’s amazing, congratulations! I’m coming up on 4 years now. That’s a nice looking canoe! I almost got a used swift osprey but was unsure about the stability. I think this canoe will be great for what I plan to do. The tent is a Woods 3 man A Frame from Canadian tire! I keep it in the truck for emergency or trips I’m not portaging but is fairly bulky/ heavy. Great tent tho

Awesome video. Like you I love everything about the Adirondak, but I'm a little concerned about the length. I don't have a ton of gear, but dont want to feel cramped on longer trips, especially if I'm trying to fish as well. I keep talking myself into 14', but thr Adirondak is hard to ignore with everything it offers, especially at the price.

Man I love the Adirondack. After doing my trip in Algonquin I am more then satisfied with this canoe. The weather was wild and I never felt unsafe as I pushed my way through and was also able to keep the gear organized and still be comfortable. One of my best investments for sure!

Hey Jake. Just a question for you and it’s not about canoes. I know off topic. But when you got clean or maybe after or before, did you accept Christ Jesus as your Saviour? Not preaching. Just might help me on my journey.

Hey @cowbway8462! For me my journey was kind of getting more into the outdoors and doing a lot of solo adventures that pushed me out of my comfort zone. This kind of led to me just really learning who I was and being comfortable alone and without substance. I’ve never been an overly religious person but I have had many moments that would lead me to believe there is more going on then what meets the eye.

@@castawaytv I appreciate that and your honesty. I absolutely love your content (and I mean I love it Jake!) and your journey and your back story. Huge fan! Maybe next time you’re out there reflect on who provided that peace and glorious wilderness for you to explore and enjoy. It has nothing to do with religion. Nobody needs religion. But everyone needs Jesus. Sounds like a paradox I know. But it’s the Truth. Look into it.
