I am from Alaska, a place colder than denver or anywhere else really and I live in Butte Montana. It got down to -55F this year. Its april 16th and the snow still isnt melted and I have to say the Puget Sound Region is exceedingly boring. Constant rain that never allows for outdoor activity. Its relentless. Oregon, Idaho and east WA. Sure. They have no excuse. But Puget sound, over by Seattle, Tacoma, Olympic Peninsula, its easy to wait 3 weeks until the rain stops.

Just found your channel as my 8 year old son is sick today and he LOVES ANYTHING survival & fishing. Wanted to compliment you & say thank you for keeping it family friendly without any foul junk language as it keeps you classy and respectable. I told my son we could watch it if there wasn’t any junk language (crap, using God’s name, cussing, etc.) and we were delighted to see your language was clean and all awesome content. You’ve got yourself a new subscriber! Keep it up and the wholesome family friendly verbiage as you’ll keep a broader and larger audience of followers. That’s rare these days and sets you apart. Also in Washington and excited to start learning from you! Thank you!

One old school rig to avoid your weight getting caught up in the rocks and triggering false bites.....is to tie a nail on the bottom and the hook above on a short leader of about 10" inches. This way, the nail bounces on the bottom without getting caught up, and the bait is about a foot off the bottom plus, tied directly to your line you get to feel the bite instantly.

Maaaaaan, first of all, I'm from New Zealand. I'm a keen trout and general river fisherman. Unfortunately a few months ago I was climbing and fell at a huge height, having a lengthy injury and cheating death in the process. As I recover I cannot fish, nor walk that well... but BOY OH BOY! am I happy that I found your channel man. Your enthusiasm makes me feel like I'm right there fishing with you. God I cannot wait to be able to river fish again, Thank you so much NW Fishing Secrets for sharing your passion for fishing and making this young crippled kiwi fisherman happy again. Appreciate you bro, you have a new subscriber and one that you have made a very, very happy angler

I will always admire your passion and concern for the protection of our wildlife here bud. You never cut a corner or take an unnecessary risk with the fish. Also really liking the expansion to bushcraft too. BTW where is your property at? I have some property just east of oroville.

You should carry a 10x20 ripstop tarp in your pack. Its light weight and water proof. It rolls up small enough to carry easily. Makes shelter quick and easy.

One thing I really wish I could see on channels like these, is how to actually find water like this. Not how to identify where to fish in a spot, but how to look on a map and find a destination. I know it's silly to just give up a map coordinate, but I have problems finding anything short of a wide stretch of fast moving river with no features in it or a miniscule creek 6" deep. Without a boat it's discouraging.

Great video, klasse! The land has so much to offer and it would be great to have couple of ready, minimalistic shelters that fit into. Perhaps invite a small group of people and set them at different locations while filming their “survival” skills and their experience.

I used a yellow paint marker and measured up 12" from the butt of my rod and made a line and then a dot every inch up to 24". It wears off eventually but saves the weight of having to carry a tape measure. 👍🏻

Good to see you, Leif! I got excited when I saw the hatchet on your pack! Beautiful river bushcraft shelter. I really like the combo of bushcraft and fishing, as those are two of my four outdoor passions - bushcraft, fishing, hiking and bigfooting. I get a thrill every time one of your videos drop, it's like a little present to unwrap when I click Play. Happy holidays.

Hey! I love your videos! Though I do a lot of bushcraft and from my prior experience you shouldn't use big logs to build a shelter. You really don't need wood of that diameter. If it collapses and you are under it you are dead in an instant. Smaller diameter poles are plenty good, they easily hold the furn or even the moss you use for the weatherproofing of the shelter. But keep going man you are awesome!!💪💪
