    Man I did Cameron corner in April 2021 and coming over that hill to see a massive lake in the middle of the road made my heart sink. I actually thought the trip was over just a few kms from the end point. Luckily it seems to be a common issue and a bypass road has been cut around it. Must be nearly time to get back out there again

    @@The_Apprentice_Adventurer I do a bit of solo adventure riding, but always take my Spot tracker/EPIRB and I wear a neck brace always. I got taken out by a Wallaby in SW Victoria that put me over the bars at 80 kph and knocked me out cold. Broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Luckily my previously damaged neck was unscathed. Such a good experience and footage to share. You’ll be sweet, just strap a petrol can on the back and you’ll double your range easy. Keep it empty most of the time and only top it up on the big sections. DIY fuel solutions haha.

  • @The_Apprentice_Adventurer

    @The_Apprentice_Adventurer

    2 жыл бұрын

    @Carpo, thanks mate. For adventure type riding I’d go the DRZ for sure. The WR450f is an absolutely power house and great bike. However I feel that you’ll be dropping the oil and checking the valves all to often. On top of that the subframe is far less competent then the drz’s and you won’t be able to carry much weight at all. If you want a bike just for some over nighters and rip up the bush tracks then the WR will kill it. Just won’t last long on the highways after 1000’s of kilometres. Drz is half the price as well.

    @@The_Apprentice_Adventurer ahh damn so you basically hammered through it? I had a couple of mates with four wheel drives with me.. and they carried all my gear, so it was super easy for me to hammer it through.. also good company at nights when we had fires going while camping. I had to wait every 15kms for them to catch up which was frustrating and even then only took us three days to get through but we opted to stay the third night in the desert aswell coz of the amazing stars at night. Good sand riding practice. I'm gonna do it fully loaded next year on a tenere 700. The WR250R didn't have enough power to make it that exciting

    @Callin Grantham mate I say just go for it. 1. DRZ400e Aussie version. 2. The Himalayan would do it fine. There was no crazy dunes or big hills. Just loose sand and desert type tracks. Just set the rear suspension to suit and have decent tyres like Dunlop 606’s. 3. You’ll get better at riding as you go on the trip in terms of the sandy tracks. Just be confident at doing 100km an hour in the loose stuff to cover the required distances and glide over the corrugations for smoother riding. Otherwise if you can ride a bike you can do this trip for sure in my opinion. You’ll be sweet. Just need to ensure you have enough fuel and water.
