Mind blowing to think that river dumped all that wood there, love it! The fire looks like some kind of shrine to warn of the evil river monsters! Roll-mat? That's an airbed!! :D ATB John - Gaz.
I enjoyed this episode. When you are trying something new and visiting a new spot your enthusiasm comes across in the video making it an enjoyable watch. (From another camper who gets his fix from watching you since I don't venture out much during the colder months.)
Ha ha...EPIC adventure once again mate! Good to see you out when others are tucked up in bed at home...Fire temple is a great idea. Looking forward to the next episode...Keep it up!
Epic video ! I bet its fun having all those rocks to play with. I have a sand bar picked out in the river. As soon as the water goes down this spring, I`ll be out there. Thank You for bringing us along. That sausage had to be good ! ATB
Amazing camp and loved that raised platform fire. I bet your feet were bright red after your river crossing, and you're right bare feet in icy water does feel like thousands of sharp wasp stings all at once. Take care John, I really appreciate all your videos!
another awesome video. thanks for having us along with you 👍👍👍
So you put on frozen shoes to cross a freezing river......... Crazy man! LOL! Keep the vids coming dude...Awesome :-)
Very, very, very smart! I also carry a second pair of lightweight river crossing shoes. Much better than cold, wet feet with cramps all night!
Epic video, I love using my Dutch Army tent too, keep up the good work👍
Best time to camp...especially for my part of the woods here in Florida...still warm sometimes even in winter..
Bloody awesome video can't wait for more
Loved the superman sausage lol :) I like canvas tents I've got a lavvu dark and warm inside :) grand vid pal
As you were walking around your tent, talking about how it was 5 below over night I saw your wet now frozen trainers just siting on the ground, I expected you to notice them and possibly curse because you'd forgotten to put them by the fire the previous evening, but you were totally oblivious to them and much more concerned with the amount of ice on your tent, definitely a man thing, I did find it very funny though😆😆😆. I do enjoy your videos. 😁😁
Awesome video! Thx for making it!
I really appreciate all your videos Thanks
The tent in DPM looks awesome. I like it.
sweet mate. loved it. cant wait for next time.
Awsome video mate. Well done with temple fire aswell looked very kl
Another great adventure.
Enjoyed that mate 👍 thanks for sharing
Another good video mate. The sausages got my stomach rumbling!
Great upload. Thanks ATB
Camping in the flood plain. Love it. Crazy. But Damn I watch every vid. Cheers
Great vid again bro. Maybe next time light a fire next to the river to warm the water where you cross, lol. Liked the raised fire idea too. All the best
Loved the 'about a meter and foot' comment. 😂 great vid as always mate. 👍🏻
Love the camo tent ⛺️ awesome elevated 🔥 fire pit
Great island especially as we've not had much rain recently to flood over it. The temple fire is great, just needs some sacrifice? The cold water is probably good for the circulation??!!

Yeah I'm loving them o rain at the min so the water is real low so yeah I no the cold water hurts my feet but they soon warm up wen my boots go back on
Thanks for sharing. Have a good one.
you always have good food it makes me hungry watching your videos.
Evening ! Better than watching telly as usual ✌️
the ultimate leave no trace location... so jealous except for the river crossings in the cold
5 Degrees and its 75 here in Florida, USA. Hate camping dn here for just to damn hot all the time. Hard to get away from the heat. Can't wait till I go to Michigan this summer. Cool nights and just rite days.
John, check out Sealskinz socks for your river crossings instead of doing it barefoot. They're 100% waterproof. Had mine on this morning on the bike on the M74/M6 heading for the Lakes.
Great video lad
I'm not sure if anyone has suggested this but you could use 2 plastic bags that bread comes in with 2 elastic bands to stop your feet & socks getting wet.
great stuff!!!
Glad to see I'm not the only one out campin at this time of year lol awesome dude

MartTheMadScientist I only can when it's cold piss on sweaty summer camping.
It's just awesome that you are willing to suffer the icy waters for a shot that benefits us the viewer. Thank you for that. Looked like a fun camp. I like that headlamp, let's us see more in the night. John, thanks for the "epic" videos! Till the next one, all my best to you! Bibsoutdoors
awesome video!
Raised fire it awesome man!!! i'll have to try that one day. Would be awesome for a large cast iron skillet breakfast!
Awesome!
Love your vids John! But seriously, you need to invest in some waders! Maybe they're called something different in the UK, but in the US waders are like really high rubber boots with suspenders. (Most often used for fly fishing) They will keep your feet and legs warm and dry when you are crossing the river. Say goodbye to frozen cold "river shoes"....
Just started watching a couple of your vids mate. Great location you had there, we used to use those fires a lot when I was in the SAS. I'm no longer in the SAS because I was too hard and made the other lads look like little girls. Keep it up bro.

love the new abode 👍
I sympathise, I once walked through some over-knee deep glacial run-off, barefoot over pebbles that were so cold they must have come from deep space. There are no words.
great video as always. I need to ask, where did you get your chest bag?.
Another epic carlisle adventure; but you didn't bring Wilson to an island??? The raised temple fire looks like a great idea for flooded areas, or even snow.
as always great video

on yersel son, reminds me of my childhood.
if seen some of those raised fires on Dual Survivor where they where in the swamp
Great vid.Thank you.Your ration food would be our luxury food!atb.snack. ps.That book is great.I bought mine around 1986 and I still refer to it today.
Dang the sun does go down fast in the UK
I hope you did the dance 😂 sausages!!!
A good way to tell if stone will explode is to drop/throw them at another one if it breaks no good if it doesn't it should be safe

For the fire ring or fire reflector
Bring some waterproof boots next time, u can get water boots today that will take up to -20 degrees and still keep you super hot on the feet, cousts like 100 dollars.
you decided to do the trip twice in the cold water. just to get a video shot of you crossing the river lol. what would you have done if woke up in middle the night greeted by a flash flood and the river all of a sudden 5ft higher lmao. mad head
is it common for the gidlipe point to need to be reinforced as mine keep letting go
Do you have Beavers and Muskrats there in Britian? I guess that is where you are at.

Thanks!! Diggin the vids, love camping by the water myself
Hehe.....giving away your agegroup there, being able to think in terms like " A metre and a foot" :D Odd isn't it.......I'm six foot four but (picking the first thing in front of me that I see) a button on my Keyboard is 12 mil across......That river was at most 6 inches deep and the stones in it between 4 and six inches wide, but the sand grains were under a mil across :D
Nice. Sleeping on the flood plain , risky and cold. Would never risk it here. Can you burn the forest wood anywhere in the U.K. Here in Alberta you can not burn or use wood in the government forest even dead or standing dead is protected.

you can only do what they dont catch you doing here, lol
Man, you don't have to do the crossing-the-river shots for us. Not when the water is that cold anyway.
Perfect :)
And hope your ears are feeling better!
Treat your boots after each outing they should last longer.
Have you ever tried a bit of panning dude.?

carlisle195 thanks for replying dude, that little island looks an ideal spot.! Any chance of of getting an invite some time..? Also thanks for your videos mate, I live down in Wales and you've inspired me to relive a bit of my childhood... got myself a hammock, tarp and a few other bits n bobs. I have found a few good spots to try and copy you n Tim. Having my camp tonight 😉 cheers dude
Rather than getting your feet soaked every time you cross the river, could you put your feet in plastic bags inside your river Nikes. Ok it looks a bit cheap but it would work.
Who else got a gym shark ad 😂
what site do u get your tent from
I was replying to you asking about my post I left for you chef about why there was a line through my post don't know that happened

Camping near river/stream. It rains. Water rises. You and your gear washes away. Just something to think about.
been robbed on that ration pack , there only £4 free delivery on ebay )
opp' my mistake its not 16/5th Lancer badge..................
Instead of changing your foot wear get a good pair of lowa boots and your sorted
Been watching your videos for ages John but why do you put yourself through the agony of filming yourself crossing the river then coming back for your camera? That being said I'd love a location like yours. By the way are you some secret arsonist
hey buddy brother manland gave you a big ole shout out come by to share the love . i subscribed be great if you could do the same thank you and god bless . keep it dark and make it matter .
