    Its worth to mention that v2016 and higher has a built-in thread feature, don't need to use swept cut, but the Thread Feature, that makes things simpler. But for the earlier versions this is useful.

    As much as I enjoy the film I have to add that using the command "thread" or using a sweep is very intense for the computer and thusly not recommendable for large assemblies. I would highly recommend using the command "cosmetic thread" which creates a callout which you may use on the drawing, but doesn't slow your computer down to a standstill. Best of wishes.

    Threads are cut on a lathe or pressed with a specialized tool. It's not like he's going to send the bolt to be cut on a 5 axis machine anyway, so I assume this is for Viz only.

    Very nicely modeled allen bolt. As an acedemic excercise it's great but I wonder if it's practical to have bolts of this quality and complexity in a large assembly. Can you imagine the load on the GPU if you had fifty of these in a large assembly? I did a few of these in my own small assembly and kept them very basic, no helical sweep, just diameters and extruded cut hex. They work just as well.

    Great tutorial for beginners. Modelling them like this often. The spiral out at the end is a sweet trick for a quick nice thread end. Officially the second (right) triangle for the revolve cut @5:05 isn't correct. This way it also cuts under the straight sides of the hexagon shape.

    I do want to point out for the triangle sketch at the 8:39 mark to 8:50 mark before making the swept cut... you didn't mentioned about the height of that triangle being from the ti point to the horizontal line of the upside down triangle sketch because if the height of the triangle sketch if greater then 1.05 mm or larger then your going to get an error because you will then be overlapping the swepts of the triangle sketch and will not get the full helical swept to be highlighted in yellow. so food for thought i guess... try your tutorial again with a larger sketch of the triangle and you will see that i mean.

  • @ojas.rastogi

    @ojas.rastogi

    5 жыл бұрын

    at 5:50 two triangles are to make a finished surface on the allen bolt head. at 8:00 the triangle is the cutting tool like in machines that will cut through the material to produce the threads. You can also use square instead of the triangle shown at 8:00, that will make square cut instead of triangle.
