So lets chalk this up. Solid Snake never had a real family, was into the military straight out of high school, killed his father twice (V once then the real BB) Killed his best friend and mentor Frank Jaeger, hides in alaska as far away from people as he can, becomes an alcoholic, gets dragged back onto the battle field, proceeds to kill all new members of foxhound and his twin brother, creates an NGO that is specifically against metal gears and takes part in sneaking missions to obtain evidence, has to fake his death, again, then goes after liquid ocelot, all the while dealing with literaly watching himself fall apart due to accelerated aging, literaly watching his own clock run out, watches his mother die in front of him, finally manages to kill ocelot, then tries to commit suicide so that he doesnt become a walking biohazard, only to have big boss come in and explain how it was all some grand game between him and Zero over the boss, a woman snake had never even met. God Damn his life is depressing.

Nah, Solid Snake was just a pawn. Big Boss was the greatest hero of all time.

Years later... and it still gives me Goosebumps. Snake's quotes helped me get through moments where i could've given up, but didn't.

"I never thought of you as a son, but I always respected you as a soldier... and as a man."

Solid Snakes...after all videogames,films and everything I have ever seen is one of the most human character I have met and my fauvorite fictional character...he have teach me a lot of things not give up,fight for what I believe He always will be in my hearth! I will never forget you Snake...or should I say David,huh?

It's sad and a privilege that I got to experience this story. The story of Big Boss and Solid Snake. Younger generations will most likely not experience MGS1-4 due to games like Fortnite.

Because someday they will be forgotten by all but the biggest fans of the series who got to experience it from the beginning--or near enough to it.

I remember being 6 years old watching dad play mgs1 then the ps2 came out with mgs2 god damn, then mgs3 "chef's kiss" then years later the epic finish mgs4 came out and holy shit I found out what the full potential of gaming can be, the whole series is a amazing tech demo of what a console and interactive media can be!

I'm in the age range of the people that only play hit multiplayer games. I'm happy my dad is a gamer and he introduced me to MGS and all the other revolutionary greats. Evolving me to enjoy all sorts of story games to this day. Every one at school would play the most fun most popular multiplayer. When I never left the phase of enjoying games like these.

Well if you want a baby/kid in the game then...sure I guess. Not sure when the game is set, but it's before S-Snake is even a soldier. Well thats Phantom Pain at least. I think Ground Zeros is set literally just before Snakes birth.

sm901ftw Kojima is infamous for jumping around in his games. Everything we've seen so far in the trailers and previews could only be a portion of the game. I'm hoping for some sort of "10 years later" thing that brings Snake into the mix.

sm901ftw Ground Zeroes = 1975, Phantom Pain = 1984 If Solid Snake's birth year is still the same (1972, possibility of changing) then he would be 12 in The Phantom Pain, and with his accelerated ageing, he might appear a little older than that. It's same with Liquid Snake, alot of people think he is Eli that was shown in the E3 trailer for TPP, and it's very possible.

adammccormick95 I keep thinking that's why David Hayter isn't doing the voice for Big Boss but the original voice actor for Solid Snake in the Japanese version of the game is making a return to voice Big Boss so that's the only thing that's making me worried. Why does Japan get to keep their original voice actor and America/UK looses theirs? It looks like it would be a hell of a lot more expensive to hire Keifer Sutherland than keep Hayter. I'm still thinking that the Phantom Pain will jump around in the timeline. Telling the story of the formation of Outer Heaven, Big Bosses turn to being truly a villain/Zanzibar incident and his demise at the hands of Solid Snake.

adammccormick95 I thought the same bout Liquid, seeing as apparently he was in the Middle East for years which is roughly the same area. As for Snake, again I thought about it but the accelerated aging only comes into play between 2005-2014. In MGS1 and 2 Snake's body matches his age fine, so I doubt we'll be seeing a grown Solid Snake without a time skip. Possibility remains for an appearance as a child though.

Solid snake is the true hero of metal gear solid. Beyond the boss and big boss. One of my favoeite characters ever. Great tribute.

As much as I love big boss solid was the best of the snakes, he didn't get tied up in ideologies, history, the legacy he had to live up to, he fought to prevent mass destruction and control and he continually beat those who were meant to be superior to him, and even with his condition mgs4 he continued the fight
