Modern warfare is no longer about good and evil, it's about making the world a better place in 'our' vision of better. This song has so much place in today's military it isn't even funny. Almost every single one of us is a misfit with a cause. Most of us only want a better tomorrow, and the only way we think of getting to it is through service to a higher calling. War has never been a good vs evil but a cloudy grey. Thats someonethig I've learned while studying military history. No nation has ever had their hands clean, and its best ti forgive crimes of the past cause at the end of it all. Weather good or bad we will all rest side by side in graves.

I feel like if this song was an hour long, I still wouldn't get bored of that chord progression.

I find myself revisiting this at the end of the New Lunar Republic v. Solar Empire battle on Derpibooru. This song always held a place in my heart being a Luna fan and much like the final chorus, so to did the forum wars play out. A triumphant call to arms among the Republic that fades away into a melancholic victory as we work together towards peace on the board again.

A piece of music to survive all the years.

There needs to be an animation of the Soldiers marching onto the battlefield in the middle of a solar eclipse and on the other side of the field, the Armies of the Sun await to do battle. 4:50-4:58 should be a scene where the Unicorns on both side are summoning spells, weakening both. As the battle rages, the scene will expand to see Celestia and Luna playing a game of chess in the castle and end with the sound of a chess piece, particularly a king, falling, issuing checkmate

When I listen to that song, in my mind I see Lunar Soldiers marching, like on a parade, and then when the guitar solo comes in, I see them fighting against the Solar Army. Then, when the Bass comes in, I see the battlefield after the battle. I the chorus after that, Lunar Army marching again, but not as many as before, only those who survived. They march with the NLR flag. And then, when the song is coming to an end, they are looking up at the moon.

This might just be the best song I've heard come out of the fandom, which place it above most other songs I've heard, even by contracted and popular artists. It might just be my military background that gives me a bias for this kind of thing, but the lyrics spoke to me like no other lyrics have before. That, and the grim, determined, and steady melody fit with the words and the message perfectly. I simply cannot give this enough praise. Well done, good sir. Well done.

Slyph i have to thank you personally. My brother left home to be a Us marine. So i was like depressed and crying. Then i discovered this song. Litteraly the day he came home i stayed up all night and i played this for over 3 hours straight

My favorite song you guys have ever done.

I keep coming back to this - and this is what keeps me going some days, on repeat. "We fight tonight to rule tomorrow and a dark day lies ahead" is my life, especially "now that good and evil are shades of grey." Thank you for the galvanizing nature of this song about a leader who actually did something with the people who were entrusted into her care - thank you for giving me someone to believe exists on bad days.

Love the bit at about 4:08, especially the last two lines with the music that happens with and then just after it. "For all the good we have created, it doesn't make us right But those of us who hide in darkness see a different kind of light".

I only started watching the show a few months ago, and it seems like every day I stumble upon some brilliant older fandom work. This is fantastic.

It is 11:56pm on Oct 11, 2019. I have returned to the fandom in the last couple of weeks and it appears that I have arrived just in time to see the series finale tomorrow. All of the memories have flooded back to me and that lead me here: to my favorite song by my favorite artist. Slyph, I really hope things are going well for you. You really deserve it. if Lunar Republic send 1 nuke, Solar Empire will easily shot it down like fly. then launch 10 nuke with more advance missile and program. death and massacre, thats how strong Solar Empire is, they have all the weaponary, wanna mess with em?

Someone should make a 10 hour loop of "You now belong to a greater good, and you answer to a higher call! You are part of the best and greatest, and there is no room for failure! You will leave behind all weakness! You are no longer a mortal! You are a indestructable Soldier of the Night!" Lines from the song. Just go to sleep with that on... wonder how you would feel in the morning.

It seems to be an interesting thing to do, I'll try, maybe, someday.

This song is timeless - it will never get old.

I ran across this song just a few months ago, and since then it's become one of my all-time favorites in the fandom. I don't care as much for the speech near the beginning, but the rich instrumental, subtle vocals, and powerful sound, plus the iconic military motifs, combined with the grim-determined voices and stirring vocals, makes this one of the most unique - and moving - pieces I've ever heard. I'm damn amazed, and I hope the three artists responsible continue working together.

my MLP music playlist is almost as long as my normal music playlist. There's a lot to choose from that's good. Also I download bi-monthly MLP music torrents, and apparently there's a total of 500 GB of pony music that has been found and catalogued.

Sarged3 heh when Mr. Slyph first sent me the demo of this song asking if i wanted to do a solo for it i knew it was gonna be somethin special, i was pretty inspired ^_^ i had my bass track and solo recorded and sent back to him like 3 hours after he first linked me the demo hehe
