Ha, don't even worry about it too much. Octavia's Overture is actually one of your songs I listen to often. It tends to stand out to me. I got it on my devices :) However I can't say I don't like this remix a lot more T~T

As for someone who joined the MLP community not too long ago, it just takes my breath away to listen to these songs. It's a weird feeling of never happened nostalgia - when you listen to such great community's great legacy. As I once said: "feeling of finding archeological monuments of past". Weird but great. So sad I wasn't there when brony culture was at its very glory.

Exactly how I fell, I joined in the middle of 2018. It is truly fascinating to see all this that was made so long ago. I have only experienced the fandom in it's death. The death is very long though as there are still parts that refuse to die. Ponies at dawn is such an example. Though I don't consider myself a full brony anymore I can dafinitely say rhat the show and the creations that sprouted around it had a significant impact on both me and to some degree even broader internet culture.

This is something I never thought I’d say. I relate to this song. I remember being in the fandom at its highest and as the years go on of course I grew out of it, kind of forgetting it. Then this song popped up on my memories and I thought I’d listen to it cuz it was a fond memory. As I listened to the lyrics I found myself in it. The story behind it is Octavia leaving home to try to achieve her dreams but in the process cutting off all the people who cared about her for the price of success and ultimately finding herself all alone and depressed because of it. I did something similar recently. I finally found the friends that completed me and who loved me for myself and instead of enjoying myself in the moment I focused too far into the future and joined the military leaving behind all my family and friends for something I thought would complete me and make me happy, now I’m here and every night I think about the people I left behind who loved me and I’m lonelier than I’ve ever been in my entire life. While in the process of what I thought would make me happy I abandoned those closest to me and found that it wasn’t worth it in the end. Growing up watching a show about how important friendship is should’ve taught me something, I guess I never learned until now just how much friendship truly is magic.

I’m shocked that over 9 years later this only has 1.4 million views. Personally I like this better than Lullaby for a Princess, or even Discord.

With all due respect to Yaov, this reimagining of Octavia's Overture is still my favourite MLP:FIM related song, and is actually a very personal song for me as a musician and as someone with BPD amongst other conditions that made me become an outcast amongst the people I care for in my life. Yes, you read that right. This has been my comfort FIM-based song since I was 12, and though I'm now a 23-year-old man struggling with mental illness and no longer in the fandom, I still listen to this song. It hits home just as much as it did when I was a child, and I will always be so thankful for you creating this masterpiece, for it made a man realise he wasn't alone with feeling so gullible and lost in the world. ~We never thought we'd see you again, but the only thing we hear from you is, "You were right, again".~ I desperately need this to be on Spotify so it can be immortalized forever.

I'm Italian and this makes it a lot more funny: you make them listenthousands of songs and they will start to love some too, you continuosly say to them "they're related to a show" without specify what exactley, then one day you show all their covers and they remain totally speechless, petrified looking at them XD

On a deeper level, this song is relatable to me by reflecting of who I once was in the past only to realize that what once was, never will be again. All any of us can do is just keep moving ahead, leaving the past behind only to forever learn as time moves forward - Hoping to not make the same mistakes as before. I love this. ♥

The Living Tombstone and his song, Octavia's Overture, will always be one of my favorites as he is also one of my favorite music artists in this fandom. I was listening to pieces from my daughter's iPod and this one came up in suggestions. Had to listen - her name was almost Octavia (8th grandchild). She id'd more with Twilight Sparkle. I wish I could find her stuff here on youtube because she did some great mashups. But I haven't been able to find her user name yet. Maybe one day. Five years almost. She was 21.

I used to be a religious slyph fan, he deserved so much more than the attention he got. Heard this the day it came out

This is the most beautiful artwork I have ever seen.

Octavia's Overture is still on of my absolute favorite TLT songs. I simply loved it when it came out. As for your version... the style puts chills in my spine, particularly with that opening. Your voice is excellent, and your lyrics dive in even deeper than the original. It gives me more of an emotional aspect as to what this journey is like. Oh yes,nice idea adding the ending addition from the Ponyville ponies who miss her. Normally TLT surpasses other musicians with his remixes or remakes in my mind, and his originals are untouchable. But in regards to Octavia's Overture, this is without a doubt my favorite version. :)

Can't believe I've gone so long without hearing your music. You have an incredible singing voice, I look forward to your collaborations with lots of musicians, and also to more music from you in the future! I've subscribed :)

Still come back to listen. I certainly joined during the golden age of MLP, but even after it's decline still such gems of old and new

The fandom will rise again, I'm sure we'll still have a second golden age. Such a legacy cannot dissolve, and besides, there are many new bronies in the fandom (like me). I'm sure there will be a sequel later, there will be another show about ponies that will take off. Maybe someone will make it from the fandom.

so for the first time in forever someone gave me a remix that truly put me as close to tears as I could come to... unfortunately due to a condition, tears aren't exactly common from my eyes. 10/10 for the feels and great cover.

When I heard this recently on Everfree Radio, I was simply awestruck. Right at the beginning I knew it was based on The Living Tombstone's piece, but the changes to the music and lyrics brought back the impact that time had taken away for me and then some. This will now have a place next to the original in my collection. Bravo!

As a huge fan of Octavia, I love this. The rewording is perfect! Everything about this is amazing. Definitely earned my sub.

It's 2020 and this song is still awesome!

I love Octavia! I love all songs about her! But this is seriously my new favorite! Even though Octavia's Overture are my favorite songs and remixes, I'm afraid I have trouble understanding the message. It implied to me that Octavia was wrong to pursue her dreams. Or is the message "don't ignore your friends while working on your dream?" Or "don't step on the little people on your way up, you'll need them on your way down?" Maybe someone can explain it to me. :)

I think it is that she wanted to follow her dreams but in doing so she lost who she was in the small town of ponyville. She lost her friends and family for the big town for fame and she realised that she would rather have her friends and family then fame anyday.

First of all, I like this. A lot. But, I'm honestly a bit confused as to why you call this a a "cover" of Tombstone's song. Maybe that's what you originally set out to do, but this seems to have morphed into something very distinct. Sure, some of the phrases are lifted from the original (particularly at the beginning, before the vocals start), and it sounds like the underlying chord structure is probably very close, but the melody line is almost entirely different and the only identical lyrics are the ones Tombstone lifted from Ingram's song in "Sweet and Elite". Personally, I'd classify this as an original piece *heavily inspired* by Tombstone's song rather than an actual cover.

SlyphStorm Good question. Really, it's transformative enough to be considered an original piece despite the clear inspiration. I know this sort of thing has been done in mainstream music before, but after googling around a bit I really can't find a well-defined term for it.
