    @@sennaul I wouldnt even like the auto-replant. Its just more realistic and immersive if plants that are harvestable can actually be harvested. Not just berries but thinks like apples from apple trees too, you know. Everything that grows FROM a plant and isnt just the whole plant as in carrots for example. 😅 Dont know if you agree but thats what I think about that.

    Feedback: love it, such games are so needed opposite all dystopian junk. But I think it needs some drama and depth. Like can you land on, let alone see earth, and see it poisoned? Are there companies trying to corrupt your solar punk with advertisements that offer green washing short cuts? Can you speak to others who need to be liberated from shortage anxieties? Is there also an alternative economic model, say gift economy, rather than the traditional exploitation capitalist model? Where's the story beneath the story? Will islands die, when over exploited, so you need to protect a healthy balance and diversity? Etc.

  • @IstyManame
    @IstyManame11 күн бұрын

    I love it. But I'm a lil afraid it might run out of content in 10 hours if not less (well maybe not I'm judging the amount of things i saw in the trailer). Happens with a lot of survival games when they don't have enough crafts/perks/goals. Icarus has the coolest perks and tech tree, but even tho it's my favorite not-story-based survival it has very little actual goals you work towards. The Forest has basically not much more than pretty short story and building and you're forced to go far places leaving your carefully built base behind to progress a story. Green Hell was so full of life-threatening things that you kinda don't need a goal because you're busy fighting for your life. Deep Stranded - To "win" they make you cosplay seaborder patrol and go into the waters for hours which is not very exciting. Really liked Demo of the Frontier but it was too short, and idk if it had so little robot upgrades and crafts because of the demo or is that the full release experience. Subnautica is #1 story-based survival for me, they solve the annoying problem of being forced out of your base to progress a story by allowing you having a base inside the cyclope submarine that you use to go to places. Raft is one of the greatest survival games i played, it took dozens of hours from me, it uses similar method to subnautica - your base is your transport. Then Slime rancher, not a survival but kinda a base builder, enjoyed it at first but then it became a careless grind, the only motivation to get more types of slimes is that selling the same ones inflates the price. But i loved the map and overall vibes, girls probably love that game. Anyway i hope you have success, and don't let little mistakes demotivate you! If you listen to the playerbase it all will be fine. Cheers!

Something to tie the whole solarpunk theme into the gameplay. Like integrating tech into an artificial ecosystem you build in order to help it florish benefitting you and other creatures that start living within such ecosystem

    Did you guys even do any research on what "solarpunk" represents? It's about sustainability, yet the basebuilding is done by cutting trees and you pluck entire bushes instead of just the fruits. It's about innovative technology, yet all I see is existing tech such as solar panels and wind mills, not even a single vertical garden. It's about resilience and adaptation, yet this looks like a perfect, idyllic farm. And most of all it's about community and working together, no multiplayer or npc's in sight... Just a generic farm tutorial with a misplaced title.

  • @a_d_a_m

    @a_d_a_m

    I thought the exact same thing. I appreciate that people are taking & spreading interest in solarpunk but this looks like a misuse of the name. Literally “every man is an island” instead of community. Still making major disruptions to ecosystems instead of working with them. I hope these principles get addressed in the game because it’s so important. But I am glad people are starting to try to spread the message. It will take time.

    Actually that’s not exactly true, Solarpunk is all about using practical technology to harmonize with nature. New or old. The emphasis is on practicality tho instead of just tech for tech sake.

  • @laurensdesmet70

    @laurensdesmet70

    3 күн бұрын

    @@cyborgbob1017 Placing solar panels and windmills on your small patch of land doesn't make sense from a practical standpoint, though. Why not put them on the sides and bottom of the flying rock you live on, or on your roof of your house like we do now? This would let nature thrive on your fertile land. In terms of harmonizing with nature, they should (in the very least) be hidden or integrated into the environment. Also pretty sure that having huge windowed sections on your house alongside the windmills on a floating island in the sky would create a graveyard for birds. Hardly harmonic, really. Am I being nitpicky? Maybe. My main gripe is just the lack of originality and thinking that went into this project. Most (if not all) ideas on display are either a rendition or a straight up copy from the "Dear Alice" video, a yoghurt commercial (of all things) and most likely your first result when looking for "solarpunk" on KZread. The lack of creativity or personal input becomes clear after watching that video, and it just shows that they didn't even consider coming up with their own logic, which then leads to very obvious discrepancies between the theory and the practical application in this game. This is also already explained a lot better by Dami Lee, who made a video (SolarPunk Cities: Our Last Hope?) criticizing this depiction as being merely an "aesthetic", and not so much a true representation of what it could or ought to be in practice. Ironically, I just noticed when rewatching that video, she even used some footage from this game to drive that point home. She focusses mostly on architecture, however, and looks at it through that lens when forming her point. There's also nothing inherently bad about doubling down on an aesthetic. But copying a yoghurt ad and calling it "solarpunk" is the type of research you expect from a bored highschooler pre-ChatGPT. Not from a serious game dev who tries to lure in a niche, core audience anno 2024. It isn't my intend to be bitter, nor to mindlessly break this game down for my own amusement. I just think if you're going to misappropriate a term like solarpunk, the best thing you could expect from people who actually are craving authentic solarpunk content (me included) is a bit of a reality check and I do hope the dev reads my little rants and takes them to heart, because it would serve them well to do some more research and brainstorming if they want to not come across as yet another generic "farmulator".

    It's funny that you obfuscate who your developers actually are online. You pipe off that you are "based in Germany" leading me to believe you aren't actually a Western team. It doesn't really matter all that much - but we see this from the chinese specifically - where they are "oh yeah European game studio!" ... and for some reason it's only chinese nationals or immigrants working there. It's in the interest of the countries where you do business to hire native citizens of that country, integrate, and do away with third world nepotistic habits.
