Solar & Lunar Eclipses in Mythology
Eclipses of both the sun and moon are rare, yet not uncommon, natural occurrences, and seen today as exciting wonders of nature. But in ancient times, when astronomy was primitive, eclipses signified many things, sometimes as good omens and other times as signs of bad things to come. Many explanations for eclipses were told of in mythology all across the world. Some say that they were an indication of angered gods or spirits, or a fight between two celestial entities, or even a union between two romantic partners in the heavens. But mostly? Many stories claim a giant animal or monster is trying to eat the sun or moon!

Some mythologies "OH NO! SOMETHING AI EATING THE SUN!! Other mythologies: "OH NO!! WE MAD THE SUN ANGRY!!!" Other mythologies: "aw, it's so cute how they still make love after all this time"

I was thinking that for April fools next year you could do a video on “lucky fools” in many fairytales and legends. People that are foolish but some how over come their hardships through luck honesty and kindness.

Nice, I thought I recognized "Black Hole Sun" in the video's music.
Can u talk about the great horned serpent in native American mythology
I saw it for the first time 2 days ago when I was at have dreams at Evanston
Here’s something you might not heard of: According to myself, Horus may have battled against Set during the solar and lunar eclipses, but he falls in love with the moon goddess Awilix of Mayan mythology, though it is not proven in any ancient texts at all. Just a thought.
More videos going into more depth about eclipses would be good. This video is excellent, but it almost feels an introduction!
I was fortunate enough to witness a partial solar eclipse in 2017 and the total eclipse on April 8th, as my part of my state (Ohio) was in the path of totality. I took the day off work (worth the point I got for calling off without using PPTO) just for the occasion because this is something I will never see again in my lifetime and I wasn't going to miss it. My area won't be in the path of totality again until 2099. The experience was humbling. Seeing the dusk and dawn around the horizon line, the darkness of twilight when the moon hid the sun, the drop in temperature...it was surreal. I should do something about eclipses in my own work. I have an animal species known as Sailbacks and they have a particular reverence for the moon. But I'm curious how the various cultures (human and animal) in my universe perceive this kind of celestial event. You should look at the pictures taken from the ISS during the eclipse. Looking down on Eath and seeing this huge shadow on it is equally as humbling.
If there were additional videos that explained eclipses in detail, that would be great. Despite its high quality, this video feels like an introduction!
I have seen a solar eclipse two times in my life and I have seen a lunar eclipse once in my life.
Will you please make a video talking about aliens?

Aliens are more in a conspiracy thing, not specifically mythology. If he was talking about the Anunnaki, maybe, since they are gods believed to be an aliens species.

Aliens have a rich folklore which has risen in the last century. I believe it could (loosely) qualify as mythology.
My solar eclipse experience was unexplainably cool. I have pictures, it was so cool.😮❤
I will admit that Eclipses have never gathered much attention from me. Even when I was little, people around were all excited but... I wasn't? Not overly. Anyway, your video was amazing as always. I had never really dig into this before .
Often the Sun and Moon have different gender depending which culture and civilization sees it. Like the Sun as male and the Moon as female. For some it's the opposite. Eclipses is not just meeting and catching up between two distant lovers or relatives but also PASSION.
❤Perfect timing, my friend.❤
I have expiremced an eclipse on monday. It was awesome, plus this was a greay vid to hear what our ancestors believed. It truly is something spiritual to see and its cool.
In one tribe of the Philippines, their myth says the sun and moon were a parent. Their children include the stars and a monster in the shape of a gigantic crab. Solar Eclipses occur when the crab consumes both of its parents.
I think in Canaan mythology the sun is a goddess Shapash and the moon a god yarikh are together during eclipse😊
The sun being eaten by a squirrel is so funny.
What do you mean mythology, the superstitious crap I've heard surrounding the recent eclipse is just as unhinged as any ancient tale.
