Soft Machine - Facelift. Live at the Con Club Lewes, March 11th 2022
Музыка
Soft Machine - John Marshall, Theo Travis, John Etheridge, Fred Baker. Two members from the Bundles era, 50 years since John Marshall joined the band. Some material from Third, Bundles and their recent album, Hidden Details, plus material written by Mike Ratledge and Hugh Hopper. Almost a whistle stop tour of their 55 year history, but with its own approach, still in development.

Keep the music down a bit lads, there’s people trying to have a conversation here.

No original members here.
Sadly with Babington gone and Marshall being constantly replaced by Nic France its hard to consider any link to any version of Soft Machine. At least they still sound cool.
The energy isn’t the same as the originals.

The originals were in their twenties, the band in this video are in the fifties and seventies. I reckon if all the original members were still playing even they wouldn't have the same energy as when in their twenties! But the musicality of the present band is fab.
Wish id known would have gone. Why dont these kind of hands exist anymore

They came from a whole different world - different times and all that
Not as good as the really early stuff but better than the Karl Jenkins period.
Vous tentez de faire revivre le soft, mais…..je ne suis pas convaincu. Tchuss, pierro, un ami de Hugh….
I'm sorry but original early soft machine material like this does not work with an electric guitarist like John Etheridge. His harsh tone and notes per minute approach make it close to unlistenable for me.
