So You Want to Make a Ren Faire Act?

In which I talk about the habits of successful Renaissance Faire acts and how you can go about building your own show.
Thanks to ‪@Adam-Winrich‬ for letting me use him as an example and use his footage. Give him a follow for some awesome whip tricks and tutorials.

Will I ever have a Renaissance Faire act? Probably not. Did I watch that whole video? Yes I did.

"hit the digital lottery", there is lots of people on youtube that "hit the digital lottery" but jacques isnt one of them in my opinion, dude has put an obscene amount of work into his craft and its just paying off in the digital world because of how many people have access to see his show. This is just an example of putting in the work and getting the rewards in return. I think everyone is impressed with the quality of his shows and the joy he brings to audiences.

Just want to take a moment to admire how you uplift other acts without putting yourself down, and uplift yourself without putting others down. ❤

I am so thankful that I got to see you perform live in NJ two weeks ago. You rocked! Thank you for also taking the time to take a pic with me, I really appreciate it. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

JBH, the orange cat, and all his paintings and sculptures are my favorite things in this video... but the info is very useful.

My home faire is Bristol in southern Wisconsin and I've been to the Shakopee faire in Minnesota, patron and former employee at both. Other things to consider when thinking about working at these places are your own physical, mental, and emotional limits. I worked at a booth called Candlelight Rocks for a number of years and it was exhausting even for just two faires. I could only imagine the fortitude of people rotating their time between even more. You get to the fairgrounds early, stay late, and either sleep there in the back campgrounds or somewhere nearby, doing the whole thing over again the next morning. You are in close proximity to a lot of people all day, are in costume, and in character if you chose to make one.

Genuinely appreciate your insights. A few of my friends have seen how I "come alive" at Ren Faires, and have suggested I try to put together an act; something I've always looked at as "good fodder for great daydreams." But, when I break it down into the 3 pillars idea, it seems somehow a lot less impossible.

It helped when you were on AGT and scared the HELL out of Simon because he was worried about his nether region. You are wonderful, keep doing what you are doing.

Very distracted by the cat, had to rewatch cause I noticed he had changed position and I hadn't seen him move, good job getting the views up Scipio 😂 The advice is 11/10 though, and I think it can be applied to content creation in general, if you want to build an audience, character, comedy and skill are definitely the pillars !

Jaques, I have no Ren-Fair skill but I'm an excellent audience member. My hands sting from saluting talent like you! 🌈 🗼😎

Saw your show at the ENC faire this year- loved you and Ses Carney. I saw the video about how you got into everything, but I was wondering if you would share the story of how your parents met. A circus performer and a college professor? Inquiring minds want to know!

That you can still blush and not be jaded is so endearing and heartwarming. It renews my faith in humanity, thank you. That is sincere and not sarcastic.

As a person who has worked in two comedy troupes (back in my early to mid-20's - I'm nearly 60 now), I would say you gave some solidly good advice that applies to more than a a Ren Faire act. :)
