I'm graduating on May 5, and I'm starting to apply to some jobs here in Tennessee. You should do a video on outfits to wear to interviews!

Thank you for this video! I love watching your videos and hearing your insight! I just finished student teaching in December (non-traditional student) and am currently waiting for jobs to open up in Iowa. I am currently substituting and am absolutely enjoying it! I am hopeful that I will be able to secure a permanent position by this fall.

In California we are directed to use a website called EdJoin to apply for a job. I always bring with me a lesson plan, but like you, I have never been asked for one before. I LOVE the idea of the digital portfolio.

First of all....yasssss to this video. I loved it. I am a teacher who will be transitioning from one district to another within the same state and I must admit, they asked all of these questions and more. In addition, I was asked about my math block, how I implement technology, and why I wanted to leave my previous school.

I start JA Personal Finance with my seniors tomorrow. I'm still brainstorming some extended projects that I will add to the program material. Because it is the second half of the year, they don't really need to do the college/military research, so I think I will have them find a job announcement and create a cover letter and resume for that position based on their projected major and anticipated experience within the field. Still trying to flesh this out, but it should fit into the JA culminating project.

I'm glad you make the kids learn a good handshake. I hear teachers who do a high-five as an option, but that's not real life. As adults, we don't high-five each other in a professional setting. But, I don't mean to judge!

Good Morning! 😀 I agree with you 100% on choice in the classroom for students. In my final course for my Master's degree, I compiled a lesson plan for Social Studies that integrated the Arts. In the final two lessons, students were given the choice between 4 workstations to complete. Even though I provided choice, students had to follow very strict guidelines (e.g. students could not choose the same station again). Choice is very powerful for fostering student Independence in the classroom. Also, thank you for speaking about your interviewing process, how to get a teaching job, and how to prepare for teacher interviews. I just received my teacher certification and this is very beneficial for me! 😀 Thank you so much for this; you are awesome! 😀

This video was very helpful! I am wondering how many schools in PA contacted you for an interview since you were offered a position from the school without your interview binder (I’m about to start interviewing and deciding how much money I’m willing to spend on resumes). Thanks for making videos! :)

+amyloo27 🤣 seriously weird story. When I taught kindergarten our musical performance was always about the farm life. Well, my sister has this sweet friend and she told me that her mom had some overalls that I could use. Apparently she wore them when she was pregnant 😅 I used them one year and they got stuck I. A huge pile of stuff and so now I use them for my ‘real’ farm life here. So basically I’m wearing pregnant person overalls. They are super wide legged and great for working outdoors. I did some really cute ones at H&M that have a skinner leg. See. Weird.

This video is so helpful! I am only a sophomore in college, but I love the information that you provided. My only question for any teachers that see this is- How do I answer these questions if I am applying right out of school and do not have prior experience teaching other than observation hours?

Before I started teaching, I worked at a summer camp. The director recommended that I join volunteer tutoring projects at my college and then I worked as a teacher's assistant at a couple elementary schools in various grades. This way I had experience with kids in educational settings and this helps you too to make sure that this is the career that you want. Recently I switched schools and one school invited me to make a digital portfolio so ended up making a 30 portfolio of photos of my two previous classrooms and they were very impressed. From then on, I included it in all emails that I sent to principals.

I am thinking about shadowing high school teachers. I plan on doing this for about a year. It will be volunteering and I guess you can say it would be like a teachers assistant. I I want to volunteer so I can get a better idea of what it's like to be a teacher. I don't want to get in the way of the teacher being able to do their job and I also don't want to add stress to their job. Do you have any other suggestions or any ideas?
