SO YOU DRY FIRED YOUR BOW! What do you do now ?

Im no stranger to dry firing my Bow, Ive dry fired the same bow three times. and each time i kept asking myself, is it broken?, are the strings ok? what about the limbs, did they crack?. and the one that kept poppin up was , do i need to spend more money on a new bow? Ill explain what I did each time it happened and hopefully it can help you in the event it does.

Because of the paint finish on you limbs you may not see cracks. After a dry fire it is better to just replace the limbs. As well as your string and cables. Even if they look ok the limbs should not take that kind of abuse neither should your strings.

I'm always screwing around and experimenting with stuff on my bow, custom serving, knocks, D-loops etc.. I set up some knocks too tight and my arrow popped out when I Drew it. Boom... dry fire. I'm lucky I have my own bow press so you just put it in the press and release the string.... then you can tap the limbs with a screwdriver.... if they're good they'll make a "ting ting" sound when you tap them... if they're cracked they'll make a dead sound "thud thud" when you tap them. It's pretty easy to hear the difference when you do it... you'll know right away.
