Hey Tim, yesterday I took all the shit off my 33 and shot 10x better...no stand no quiver....just front and back stabilizer. next step will be removing an oz from back stabilizer. I'm running 4 in the back and zero up front. 8 inch side/back, 12 in front with 8* quick attach.

@TimConnor13 - I just dry fired my bow and wow did it mess up the cams. MFJJ talks about the Bowtech Revolt and the bent cams my Bowtech cams are way worse. I read somewhere Bowtech allows the cams to bend / crush to save the rest of the bow. I still feel like I want to puke. Wish I could send you or MFJJ a picture of my cams.
Two types of archers. Those that have dry fired and those that will. Good on you for admitting and owning up to it.

Luckily I learned young lol. My dumbass has passed my old bow to my brother, and him not knowing better dry fired it. Luckily it was backed down a bit, and didn't mess up. Lesson learned on that one too.

Never have but my friend did to my new bow last night
The honesty and humility is why you guys are crushing it. It’s awesome to see people at your level making mistakes and being honest about it.
Realism is why I am addicted to your channel. Great content. This is my first year in archery and I can shoot a bow because of this channel. Thank you!

“ tell me it ain’t so”. Luckily I have never done this in all my years. But I have hooked up and started to draw more than once. And that’s scary.
Twice in the same summer! Got some honest, and well deserved, ribbing from the guys at Buck's and Bows archery. Also found out eeeeeeeveryone has done it. Glad you have the platform, and were willing to put it out there!
Great vid , love the honesty . You should make a vid of those vanes and fixed blades etc at various distances .
Awesome video again guys, happy to see no issues woth your set up tim 👌 good luck at tac

Thanks G!!
I feel this too. I dry fired my Mathews Vertix right before hunting season last year. I was trying out different broad heads and as I came to full draw with a larger fixed head, the back edge of the blade tipped the front of my riser as it was going by which effectively unnocked my arrow. It all happened to fast and I saw the arrow fall. I was using a hinge set hot and when I was surprised by the event rotated enough to send the string forward. Luckily my bow was not damaged. I'm giving credit to Mathews and their well-built bows.
Thats when you know you are in the zone. Good to hear nothing broke!
I wish I saw this video like 8 years ago. You gents are talking about let off percentages and I now have a firm understanding of the concept! When the old man and I were chasing each other at the vegas 5 spot, we hit a tie point we hit a tie breaker. I swapped my Mathews Ultra Max (I know, old, yet reliable) with his Z-Max (at the time also old reliable), yes similar bows of the same era, but I had a 65% let off cam and he had a 80% let off cam (similar draw length 30 vs 30.5). Short story, he could barely hold draw with my bow and I wondered why his felt so light at draw. This also explains my IBO being so much higher than his when we expected everything to be the same. Little did we know that the Z-AAR vs the Z-BBR-HL cams were to blame then. I came here to watch a dry fire, but was treated with a subject that I've been nerding about lately. So thank you! Sub'd! Just wish he was still around to share this tid-bit of knowledge.
Great video and don't feel bad Tim, I'm also a member of the dry fired bow club.
I think with that new invisible arrow set up that you have Tim you should be able able to take down Dan haha. I almost did that same thing last year, but the guy I was shooting caught me doing it before I released my arrow. Super easy to do, don't sweat it.
Don't let the roasters bother you...crap happens
Glad it didn't come apart and you didn't get hurt.
Yes! To Frankenbow video! Thanks for all the great content!!!
Been there too man, I feel for ya. Never in a million years thought I'd ever dry fire my bow, but one little distraction in my shot process, and boom. You're lucky man, my bow string blew up. But everything else was good with my bow. Glad it looks like your bow held up well man. Thanks for sharing a video that most would have avoided putting out there. Real shit. Good on ya. As a guy who has done it too, I can tell ya you probably won't do it again 🤣
On building my arrow I’m OCD . I don’t mind at all taking my time with every aspect of building. Comes from my days of home grown ammo builds for precision rifle shooting.
Tim… I LITERALLY did the EXACT same thing a few hundred hours ago!! I’m so pissed at myself. I was adjusting for my 20. Got it nice and tight. I decided to toss a few more (in a rush)… and BAM!!! My string popped and I was confused. I felt like I had a great hold on my target and I didn’t understand why it happened. I spent probably 10 minutes looking for the arrow and then alight went on in my head. I counted the arrows I was shooting. I had all 8of 8 accounted for. Then I realized, holy shit, I never even knocked an arrow. I was in such a rush that I just had a brain fart. Thanks for sharing your video. Evidently I’m in good company. Humbling experience to say the least.
I was in the zone just like Tim when I dry fired mine, holding steady and BAM! Lower yolk on the string broke, and the string ripped off the string stop on the way past. My shop built up a full custom set of strings and had me back on the road in a week.
It happens. Glad nothing serious happened to you or the bow. And thank you for putting it out there that stuff happens.
Love watching your videos love to see a frankenstein bow build keep up the good work 👍👌🏹
God, I love this show! You three are just as cool, knowledgeable, and big, in my opinion, as Micheal Waddell, Tbone, Nick Mundt. I watch your show every single day on my way to work.
Not going to lie my stomach went into knots for you when I seen that happen. I have never seen one personally but have seen some aftermath of it. And holy cow you got lucky. Keep up the great work man.
Bro!!!! I've drawed my bow without an arrow and luckily noticed before popping the shot. Thanks for keeping it real. Sh1t happens man. You're pulling 75 lbs perfectly fine.
Working with Mathew's, I would add that PSE offers a "Dry-fire" kit for a reduced parts cost, and Bowtech has offered on occasion some concessionary parts on occasion to help first-time dry-fire sufferers. In any case, yes YES, get your bow to a shop tech that knows what to look for following a dry-fire and have them carefully inspect the bow. Good shooting!
Thanks for fixing my V3x Josh when I blew it up in January. best shop I’ve dealt with and I’m from California
My first dry fire was at SVA, luckily it just busted my speed knots. They said because my bow was set 10 pounds less than the max, it saved the strings and bow. As I looked like my dog just died, they said that happens all the time unfortunately and learn from it.
Absolutely we want a frankenbow.... Let's do it!
I came so close to doing this at TAC last year. Was late in the day, had been having fun with buddies, and just got hyper focused on the target and never nicked an arrow. Fortunately my buddy stopped me just as I started to draw back.
I feel this in my bones as I just dry fired my 33 my son was screaming at me to blow more bubbles in the yard and I got frustrated and wanted just one more and just drew back and boom, I was not as lucky I cracked 2 limbs and bent a cam but Mathews did cover it.
You are a legend Tim end of the day shit happens. Good luck at TAC
Showed a friend my New DXT in college. He pulled it back bare handed and LET IT FOCKING GO. 🤦🏻♂️. Cam bent, peep flew out (found it in my moms house plant 4 years later). Mathews covered it for Free.
I've done this myself a total of three times, and I've seen others do it as well. I have not dry-fired my bow since I got my coaching certification through USA Archery and committed the 11 steps from the National Training System to memory, and developed my own shot sequence where I'm telling myself, "nock an arrow" before I draw the bow.
Should also check the limbs for splintering. The shop I used to shoot for in MI had several bows come in from dry fires throughout the year and I'd say a quarter of them showed signs of splintering (or cracking in the finish) limbs.
Is there a video on your arrow setup? I’m really interested in what your shooting
Let’s go boys!!! Let get him to 20k
Smooth draw!!!!!! yessir!
I just got back from TAC park city, and this exact thing almost happened to my buddy twice on the mountain! Thankfully I caught the fact that he was at full draw without an arrow nocked both times but it could have been a bad day!
The old saying " don't knock it til you try it" doesn't apply to bowhunting where you absolutely don't try it til you nock it
Would LOVE to see a frankenbow!
I was working really hard on my form and mantra this year because I had regressed. I was so concentrated I released and was like what happened, looked down and all my arrows still in my hip quiver. Did take it in to have timing checked and everything looked over. I got lucky as well but scary I feel your pain Tim.
I basically dry fired my vxr28 last year when the nock broke at the moment of release and my entire string snapped so consider yourself very lucky. And no Mathews did not cover it under warranty but my local bow shop helped by splitting the cost of new strings. Luckily nothing else was damaged. Just had to completely sight it back in from scratch.
Very lucky 👍🏻 I also dried fired this weekend 🙈😩 was tired and also giving buddy distances and aiming point and did not concentrate on my own shot. Tearing my top cam not so lucky 😭.
What would you start with for the Frankenstein bow?
Did the same thing a month ago. New cams and strings as a result. Just got it up and running again
This was a great video. it's two weeks till elk season and I dry fired PSE and season over. I never thought I'd do this it happens and it hurts.
Glad I'm not the only one, I did this the day before my birthday and I was getting a bunch of stuff in the mail to build my own arrows and I was soo excited to start shooting them and I dry fired my bow while hunting rabbits cuz I forgot to nock and arrow so I can feel the pain
Literally almost did that the other day 3D shooting. I've caught myself more times about to draw back my bow shooting 3D than I ever have.
My Revolt X looked just like that when my D-Loop gave out without an arrow nocked. Lucky for me it was the shop that tied the loop so they replaced the cams and string for free.
I've done it to my Matthew's Switchback XT. I was practicing and got distracted. I have a bad habit of clipping on the release when I'm standing around. I purely forgot to load an arrow. It cost me about 150 bucks to have the parts replaced.
I've been shooting a compound bow since 1978 I've had this happen 2-3 times it sucks. Old bows had real cables
I'd love to see a Frankenstein bow! I love the trx34 but wish it were heavier lb limbs and the super sweet v3x cams
Heck yea, I want to see a Frankenstein bow build. I have a old Mathew’s traverse I want to put 80lb monster wake limbs on but can’t find any used for sale. Also thought about putting the v3x cams on it and see what it would pull for weight with 75lb mods.
Will the Easton 4mm Ti half out fit the Black Eagle X-Impact? I have been searching the interwebs without any success. Or is the a better insert/half out that’ll work with the X-impact?
I’d love to see a frankenbow build!
Dude, I love love podium archery I live in Michigan and anytime I order I get it in a day or two.
Those vanes were my other choice i was gonna go with but the TAC vanes by levi morgan won it for me. super quiet and tough.
Need to see an episode of just the truck challenge!!
Flex fletch are amazing. You can blow through a target and they'll be just fine.
What about axel or bearings damage? How can that be spotted? Thanks!
Man it’s a good thing it didn’t blow up. You could’ve got really hurt. Be safe out there boys. 👍 good video thanks for the info MFJJ
Tell us about the draw board setup you use in the shop.
Hey man good luck
Cotton ball limbs is a great check too make sure nothing splintered etc

Dry firing a bow sucks, what sucks even more is admitting you did it. Owning up to a mistake and being honest says much about your character. Tim much respect to you and well deserved. Glad you didn't damage your bow. Now just don't make it a habit!!
The exact same thing happened to my buddy's dad last weekend! Neither of us noticed that he didn't have an arrow nocked until it was too late. Unfortunately for him, it destroyed his cams.
Video idea… Black Gold Dual Trac vs Spot Hog Fast Eddie dual vertical pin vs HHA Ryz….pros n cons comparison video
Dang my son has me on video doing that. My spirit feels a little better now 🤣😜🏹💯🔥

Hey Tim what release are u shooting now?
Yes do a ridiculous speed bow build with a tuned broad head
Building a Frankenstein bow would be a cool episode!
I dry fired year 2. Half the bow techs told me to find a shmuck to sell my bow to because it will never be right.
24 yrs of archery I never dry fired a bow.. then I got into 3d and dtu fired it twice in less than a month. Shit happens. Glad to see the Mathews stay together strong 💪.. bent the cam on My Bow both times.
Bro sounds like he’s gonna cry!!! His voice lol shook
Would like to hear more about those Gold Tip trad 600 half out's you're running. Maybe do a video on them real soon?? Noticed Dan was running them as well on another video.
I dry fired mine at a shoot with a group of ppl a lot going on and not paying attention. So I feel you pain. I bet my axle
I did it in the woods one time after a hunt drew back quick to check something on my bow, shoulda jus put an arrow in for good measure…and when i went to let down i musta bumped my thumb button idk how, and it fired half way during the let down. I was so mad at myself lol
Shit happens. Matthews are tough. It happened to me with my Triax few years ago. I wasn’t paying attention and I shot an arrow with a broken nock. It derailed my string. They were pushing a year old anyway so I just replaced the strings and rocked on. No broken limbs No bent cams.
i dry fired my v3 last year, arrow was short when i pulled it back.78lbs 30.5 inch draw it had 0 chance to survive. top cable and bottom cam was smashed.top cam and string was ok.shims, bottom cam, cables were useless.
I dont see those vanes in the 2" on your website?
Another question, i bought a cheap hoyt clash bow and while firing an arrow the cable derailed off the cam! it was a lesson, during the corona period I placed a new bowstring myself and had the wrong cam lean, after adjusting this has never happened again I had no damage afterwards, but I think I was lucky because it wasn't a heavy bow. But what are the consequences with a heavy bow?
I watched my dad dry fire his bow at a 3-D shoot. Had it checked and everything was ok still shot well.
My buddy drew my v3 back last year 2 days after I got it and derailed the string. Bent the cam, busted the string and the scs buttons. Luckily my pro shop was top notch and had it fixed the next day and free of charge.
Frankenstein!!!
I think the ranch fairy is living in Josh’s head rent free , you mention him every video!
MFJJ is a stud!! Wish he lived in my neck of the woods!
I was wondering why they say don't dry fire... Thank you now I know
I dry fired mine with an arrow on the string. Turns out the D-loop had somehow worked it’s way together (do not know how) and when I knocked the arrow it either 1) pinched it off to half knock or 2) just half knocked and I didn’t notice. Either way, my daughter looked at me when it happened (string exploded) and said “Dad! You said that doesn’t happen with an arrow on the string…!”. Luckily everything was straight and tight, replaced the strings and cables and it shoots just fine now. Bullet mostly dodged.
It happened to me a month ago at the 2nd target of a 3d course 😭 nothing was bent on my genX XLR8, but I lost the peepsight and the piece that put the cables away of the arrow (I'm French, I don't know the English word for this piece). The string just quit the cams too.
Ive shot an arrow that wasnt properly seated and it went 10 yards higher than where i was aiming (60 yards).
Awesome content as usual! NEW TOPIC: how far or close should your vanes be to your nock? I have a story/reason why I am asking this. But I won’t bore you all with it. But let’s just say my shop told me something that didn’t seem to be correct. It was also a “new kid” who had just started working there.

The TAC truck is 111yds, there is NOT a sticker, you must be inside out in the 11 ring.... I got 3 in it for the truck in Oklahoma
I about did that once. The only time I forget to do something is move my sight
Is that a serious question? Hell yeah we want a Frankenstein bow build!
