This is the most competent Alex play through I've seen for a while

It takes 15,000 casualties to train a major general. - Ferdinand Foch, French Field Marshal (Alex's Inspiration in every HOI game)

I think the new focus tree is way better, as before you could get rid off a debuffs with one focus, but now it's actually more realistic. It's also good that the state of the Austro-Hungarian army in 1910 is shown in the game, as there were so many different languages spoken in the army. edit:spelling

The new focus tree is much better, but I think they should have focussed on other things. The old focus tree was "solid" and "fine". Research is really lackluster, a lot of nations lack focus trees and for example Germanys tree is much, much worse than the old AuH one. I just think they should have done other stuff, before overhauling AuH.

Still doesn't show off the fact that all of the different parts of Austria Hungary were using different gauge rails and all that.

Alex there is a way to retreat into an open tile Right click on another tile behind you whilst your division is under attack, then now that the arrow is green, right click on the empty tile to move in

love it that the update is called the balkan powder keg and yet Greece still does not have a focus tree

Maybe they will rework Greece and Turkiye for like "Battle of Anatolia" so that's why they didn't add a focus tree. Plus they have added more national ideas and portraits so in Arms against Tyranny it will get a focus

@@CossackPrecursor one more thing, if you play as Greece (with cheats enabled) and you activate debug mode, in one of the decisions you can see a really unfinished Greek focus tree, with only the debt management being kinda fleshed out

That Austro-Hungarian flag you speak of was the unofficial flag and the Austrian Empire flag was the official one.

The flag thats commonly thought of as their flag was just a civilian ensign and wasn't an official flag. Austria Hungary didn't have an official flag.

Just so you know, you did miss out on some events after the war that gives you more stuff (a Ukrainian, Albanian, and Serbian puppet), as well as an Austrian intervention in the Italian Civil War.

Fun fact: my great great grandfather served in the army for austra hungry. He was deployed on the eastern front. And he was from Slovakia. Though they were surfs. Soooo yeahhhhhhh.

I would really recommend to try out the Hungarian Flavor mod. Pretty exciting and has so many options to choose from.

i literally played it yesterday and a random event happened where i started war against serbia and montonegro and russia joined and i didnt notice and i died (also i was building civs too long and didnt have enough mils to supply my men)

alex this z to a, really is so much overdone. even bitter steel and History of everything podcast are doing Kaiserreich world. I think you have to do something different. My high suggestion is the Red Flood mod. no one did it before for a to z in Hoi4 after all you just began really so you can change it.

Austria-hungary had no offical national flag, people think that the civil ensign is the national flag of austria-hungary but that flag was only flown by the austro-hungarian navy, the three national flags that were used were the black gold flag, the kingdom of hungary flag, and the croatian flag. Austria and Hungary were not a country. There were no common citizenship neither passport. In international law, they were separate countries, that's why they had different peace treaties. Read this article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austro-Hungarian_Compromise_of_1867#Terms With the exception of the territory of Bosnian Condominium, Austria and Hungary did not form a common sovereign territory in international law. (Ie. Kingdom of Hungary and Empire of Austria were different countries) Thus regarding to territorial changes during peace treaties, the Empire of Austria and Kingdom of Hungary had to act independently as independent countries.
