A lot of Pokemon were given custom sprites for their text blurbs. Normally, Mewtwo doesn't have sad or shock expressions because only player Pokemon or main NPCs get them, but because any Pokemon can now be pulled for any slot, they needed to be able to emote.

I wanna say the reason Mewtwo had a tied up sprite while Furret and Murkrow didn't is due to popularity. More people would want to play as Mewtwo than a Murkrow.

Unoriginal, but still cool

I love how, in the base game, Hypno captured Azurill because he was small, which means he could go in the hole. Faced with the same problem, Raticate kidnaps an Onix. A giant rock snake. He probably was planning to force it to use Dig or something, but still. Also, Raticate is very small. He could probably fit in the hole.

To be fair, Raticate does have a higher base stat total than Onix(413 to Onix's 385), and if you look at the dex entries for Raticate, it makes sense why Onix was intimidated into cooperating. Raticate's dex entry for Diamond, Pearl and Platinum says "it can chew apart cinder walls", while the Heart Gold dex says "it can even topple concrete buildings by gnawing on them." Onix didn't want to get eaten by the stronger Raticate! As for why Raticate didn't go in: Raticate is 2 feet 4. Azurill is a third his size at 8 inches. if Drowzee at 3 foot 3 couldn't commando crawl in that hole himself, Raticate is equally unlikely to fit. Onix is a logical choice to send in instead, because all of it's gen 4 dex entries(which is when Explorers came out) say something about it boring or burrowing or squirming through the ground. The hole's too small, they gotta dig a new way in, you get a pokemon that specialises in digging!

Ngl in my game, which was the normal version, just trying to get to Primal Dialga I would get a monster house almost every fucking floor. In the original version. I was a Cyndaquil and my partner was Piplup. Man was I so happy when I finally cleared it. Good thing I packed tons of Reviver Seeds and leveled up quite a bit before getting wrapped in the story mode once it doesn't let you do that anymore, grinding before dungeons.

The monster house music kicking in every time is comedy gold

My goodness, this whole randomizer was just ridiculous and hilarious from start to end. So many things to talk about that I can't even begin to figure out how to list it all out.

it’s crazy how even in a randomized silly ass version of this game i still manage to sob at the ending and end up an inconsolable mess

Ah yes my favorite game, Monster House simulator. A low self-esteem Mewtwo partner is very fitting, oddly enough lol loved the video!

Stantler weirdly fits even more as a cranky Guild assistant than a Chatot, holy shite

Very small detail but the way you did the spoiler warning at the beginning was very clever. Muting the audio while making the subtitles barely visible is something I can’t say I’ve seen before.

PMD Randomizer is one of those times randomising characters doesn’t actually ruin the story

Man,seeing a primal dialga potrait in the thumbnail fiils me with nostalgia.When I was twelve or so I hacked my PMD sky so that I could be a primal dialga,and it all went pretty well until the post-game missions.During the team charm mission introduction,my game softlocked.What I think happened is that the game tried to pull up a portrait that didn't exist and just froze up.I was devastated at that time since I put so much time into the game but nowadays I just see it as karma for messing with something I don't understand,

You probably could've fixed it by hacking your character back to one of the defaults for the cutscene, saving, and then reverting it back to Primal Dialga. Probably too late now though.

18:08 Woah that’s so interesting actually. This shows that, probably in order to conserve some memory, the names of Porygon 2 and Porygon Z simply take the name from Porygon and concatenate it with -2 and -Z. Porygon got replaced with Glaceon, so now the Porygon line will be named Glaceon.

The actual whiplash I got from seeing my own art in a yt thumbnail haha, and my recommended no less, always love seeing people have fun with my favorite game :)

I had the 'luck' to get Dratini and decided that Beldum is my perfect partner (because Metagros is my favorite sudo-legi). Well... until i realised that this thing can only learn bodycheck (and no TM's) and is essentially useless für the entire story. :D

As someone who never played or has seen the original game, Dusclops walking Mightyena in the air is just a canon plot point in this game to me now.

Primal Lotad is the best thing lmao Jaiden started a run in this randomizer too, she's a Leafeon and her partner is Deoxys (started with attack form, but then changed to normal and no longer emotes :( sad), and in her run, the Spoink in the first mission was randomized to Clamperl, which is the only other Pokémon that actually fits the mission (THEY STOLE HIS FACE!) since Spoink's pearl is actually a pearl taken from Clamperl. Also, Croagunk in the guild was randomized to Porygon-Z, but like here, the "Porygon" part of the name was randomized, but for her it was Rhydon-Z, and her chat started making "Rhydon-Z nuts" jokes which was the best thing! XD I thought that meant Porygon-Z would always change to Rhydon-Z for the meme, but apparently not, Jaiden just got EXTREMELY lucky with the name. Also in her run, the moves aren't randomized, but the chapter titles and MUSIC are all randomized, like every time there's a screen transition, the music changes, even in cutscenes. You can go from "Don't Ever Forget" to "Monster House!" and then to the silly theme, it's a whiplash sometimes lol but it makes it so much funnier.

These games are my childhood. I found ALL my old copies... So I restarted and began them all over again. I'm gonna have FUN.

Since seadra is a seahorse, that “mouth on his stomach” and the black hole he shoots could just be a mass of babies since the male seahorse incubates their young in their belly button. Mewtwo just killed a man using his own children

Fun fact. The randomiser has a slider on it where you can change the chance of a monster house appearing per floor. Older versions of it had the chance default to 100%

Those are custom! They're pulled from a community made repository of custom portraits, and special sprites like eating and the tied-up ones are also pulled from there on randomization. It's pretty cool.

Hoppip used Splash! Mewtwo got bodied! Totally got me laughing xDD😅

I love the reaction portraits that all of them have, its a nice touch But those Clefable were 100% creepier than any Sableye

I think what I find funniest was that Raticate couldn’t fit into the hole for the trove of thieves treasure, so out of all the people he could get to help he picked an ONIX.

Theres something great about seeing a slight nervous, awkward version of Mewtwo just exploring alongside a Murkrow, calling them kid over and over while clearly not being the brave one.

For monster houses, I used to make my partner's tactics run away, survive a turn, and go to back to a corridor, it is much easier to take enemies one by one.

The pokemon mystery dungeon games have my favorite music out of the entire franchise. Some songs will rip my brain directly back to being a kid up way too late with my DS/DSi with the volume barely on so that I didn't get in trouble lmao

strategy for monster houses i came up with as a kid and works pretty well is to push your partner back and walk into the hallway you came in from. doesnt work when you enter on one but being able to take them out one by one when you dont have some shit like heat wave is pretty nice

Whenever i encounter a monster house i back up funnel them into a tunnel. Water can mess that up but its better than getting hit on every every side. Spawning into a room i usually have an orb of some kind to disperse, escape from, or stun everything. Still, good luck surviving that many monster houses in a row.

When I did this my wigglytuff actually randomized into Jigglypuff. I didnt actually notice the difference at first

Congratulations on summing up my opinion on PMD, especially Explorers in 10 seconds. Such great games that could honestly be considered the best pokemon games, if only the gameplay was half as enjoyable as the story.

I have never played these games nor have i seen gameplay of them before. Thus, watching this, I don’t know what these pokemon are supposed to be normally unless specified, and that makes it that much more chaotic…
