I'm 64, and I was born back then..This is what I tell anyone who asks why they couldn't have been born back then..Like it's NOT your music..It IS your music!..Just as much as it is MY music...Know why?..Because you 're hearing it..Just imagine if you were born over 100 years ago..You wouldn't have heard of it at all!..Now that's some unlucky timing!..We're all here on this planet to hear it now, right?..That's all that counts....I call that lucky timing; don't you?

But one positive way of looking at it is, if you had been there you would be a lot older right now, lol. It's kind of nice that we have things like professional recordings so we can enjoy the great songs of the past. There was a time through most of human history when that wasn't possible so we are among the blessed. I think your reactions are so consistently amazing! I think every decade has its great songs, but sometimes people who are born after don't have the curiosity or open mindedness to explore the great songs of the past. I was 9 when the song came out - it got heavy airplay in a format called "easy listening" which as far as I know doesn't exist anymore. I came to appreciate it all a lot more as an adult... To this day Ambrosia always reminds me of driving at night, on the way home from a long trip - and a traveling companion breathing softly beside you, and feeling peaceful after an amazing journey.

I don't know about anyone else but from the first time I heard this as a kid until now, the signature instrument that holds this together is that killer bass line. Walking up...walkng down all through the song. Genius.

Listen to the band PAGES led by Richard Page who later formed Mister mister. Hes voice was all over the westcoast scene as a session backup singer. Great vocals that can sing any genre.

your right lizzie they were a smooth sounding group. in my biased opinion 70s music was the best and i was a teenager then. this song came out in 1980 but was probably written in the 70s so i proclaim a 70s song. yes i can do this lol

Hey Lizzy, great reaction. The 70s has soooo much timeless music to offer. It was a time when most of it was written with sincerity and clarity. A lot were singer/songwriters that had strong folk influence. With their ability to paint pictures with words they could dissect and express very precise emotional experiences. And of course all these artists came together and fused all these styles like jazz, blues, folk and rock together and created the best decade of music so far. 80s weren't so bad to...
