I've watched this hundreds of times now, and I still get chills and tear up every time. This is hands down the most beautiful and heartbreaking duet of all time. Of ever. Ren (and reactors like you) are redefining masculinity through empathy and vulnerability. Thank you.

I agree. Everyone requests Chalk Outlines but there’s something about this one. The haunting simplicity in the a cappella and desperation in the lyrics. Agree about the masculinity too. It’s about time we get rid of toxic masculinity.

I too just watched Ren's new song. I think some of the questions were answered when Ren basically said in the lyrics he wouldn't be who he is today. "For now I'm here on Earth stuck inside this mortal body but for everything it's worth made me braver made me wise made Me stronger made me true made me face the world with courage and that's all because of you"

It is the where it all happened. They always put everything in they don't leave anything behind. Thier voices cut very hard and deep in your soul.

When he says he was baptized by fear, he's saying he's changed in way that you cannot come back from. This is something that happens when you watch someone die in front of you. Mortality becomes more real in way that person who doesn't witness this could ever understand. From that moment on when you go to bed, you will be thinking about your mortality. Than when he says Sad eyes blind him, when your emotional state is complete depression, everything will appear terrible, whats the point when your bound to die, whats the point in anything you've earned or gained. Suddenly life has very little meaning, other than a brief distraction before you cease existing into a void of eternal nothingness.

Fantastic reaction. These two are phenomenal! And what people don't always comment on is their impecable timing. No auto cues, noone conducting this. Just 2 voices in perfect sync. Someone said that they have worked with top-level artists who are not able to do this. They become one entity when they sing together. Mind, body and soul. It's hauntingly beautiful.

This is hands down my most favorite duet between these two and forevermore. This masterpiece is absolutely paralyzing. It is also freakishly tranquil. JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH!!!! And you, my dude, to be able to so elequintly explain something so unbearably heartbreaking equally deserves a standing ovation. I have watched quite a few ren reactions and that is the most poetic anyone got imo :) and at the end... you noticed that he is speaking.. to joe... with silence, the verse would have allowed for 2 more words.. instead... there was silence, speaking loudly oh my, this is soo good, beautifull, just not pretty, as someone put it
