I love starcraft co-op, i'm going to absolutely love playing this I really hope they go into the co-op commander scheme, where each commander faction has unique abilities and factions Edit: Asmon really needed to learn about A move when they told him in the first game, most the time his units were just standing there getting stuck and not attacking cus he was spam clicking units

That is exactly what they're doing. I'm just hoping that some of the heroes are not a controllable unit on the field, but instead give you global abilities and that sort of thing like the SC2 Coop commanders.

if the developers are looking at feedback in the comments, I really liked the ability to group units up in the little tabs in StarCraft 2. it made it way easier to manage everything

This, I was wonderIng of they had unit grouping. Allows for really advanced army splitting and managing multiple groups, scouts etc. If I remember double tapping hotkey for group also brought camera there, or you could just click move units on map

His roots are in Warcraft 3 though so idk there’s gotta be an interest otherwise he wouldn’t even touch it.

We're trying. Co-op modes and other ways to play without feeling ladder anxiety are a start. We want to make Stormgate the most social RTS ever. I thought Asmon, Esfand, and Phin did a great job of showing how RTS can be fun to play with your friends.

Lots of really good talent there from the Command and Conquer devs of old, they work super hard but it seems that RTS games barely get any notice these days. It would feel like getting the old crew back together for one last big hurrah

I'm sure you must have something like that already in the works but it would be good to have the beta testers who are less familiar with the genre to go through something like that first.

RTS games are about making a lot of decisions (like doom). If you are more about games that favor clean execution (console shooters, smbb, old racing games) or following instructions (souls, 2d mario) it might not be for you.

I really love playing the RTS genre even though I suck at it. I'm more of a methodical thinker which makes it hard for me to keep up with other players but, i find myself coming back every single time. I had a lot of fun playing the wc3 campaign and evolution of races(satyr ftw). I enjoy the modding scene for RTS a lot.

I havnt noticed yet, but i think itd be nice to see visual upgrades of units and structures as they upgrade, kinda like how the buildings in warcraft 3 change as they upgrade

So many developments in the gaming landscape over the past few years have made me so skeptical about everything companies promise. If there's one group of people I still have faith in though, it's these guys. A lot of these people basically created the entire RTS genre as we know it, and creating an RTS really does have to be a labor of love because there are infinitely more profitable types of games they could have chosen to develop.

“I don’t think I lost a single guy wiping out that base.” Asmongold 30 seconds later… “Man, this one guy just snuck into my bass and killed like 10 of my guys,.. and wiped out all of my workers.”

I already know I wanna play this. Please god do not let this game down

You have to select your group and hit A then click so that they attack on sight. if your group is big enough then you walk them in until everyone is close enough to a target, then hit A and click so that they all attack at the same time.

I hope in co op that you can give control of units to other teammates and that they add some combos that can trigger (Certain units from different factions together gives a bonus, maybe something like the kerigan thing where the zerg turn her into infested kerigan). I feel like there is a lot that could be done with co op or even 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 that would cause people to diversify.

My first RTS was Warcraft 1. This looks really fun, and I love that former Warcraft developers worked on this.

Warcraft 2 was my first one, and I played it like crazy! I would always bounce between Red Alert, War2, Age of Empires 2, and Starcraft. Played a ton of War3 and AoE 3 when they came out as well.

I absolutely loved that it had beginner tutorials for things like a-move and Asmon completely ignored them. You can lead a horse to water...lol. Great stream.

1:07 okay to clarify it’s the 2017 and after SC2 model basically- F2P But with campaign paid episodes (continuous shorter episodes is the goal), some laid co-op content and a whole load not just maybe soem cksmetics There will be new types of cosmetics in pets, fog of war skins, that aren’t in SC2 as well as ones that are

@@henrifortier8621 doesnt has to be innovative. just refreshing to see something else besides an FPS or anime gatcha which dominates the space right now because it generates moneys. RTS is a genre that hasnt been touched in decades. it looks and feels like starcraft cuz its from the makers of starcraft lol. id still be pretty interested in it if it has another aesthetics be it fantasy ala warcraft or military C&C. my point is AAA will not break the mold/trend because the returns on development is a risk theyre not willing to take, which i understand. indie and small studios is where u wanna go to to see something outside the norm.

@@henrifortier8621 the engine is what is innovative about it. SC2 engine has been unrivalled for years which is why it is still the largest RTS community. All the features of snowplay (like rollback netcode and 60tick etc)... if they get it right then it will be the most responsive RTS of all time.

To me, the colors/saturation just needs to be toned down, at least for environment and objects, so it is easier to parse what I'm supposed to be looking at. I also wish it wasn't so cartoony, but them the trends.

Imagine getting Warcraft IV... like part of WoWs story in RTS form. Damn I would love that.

This looks cool. I was a HUGE SC2 fan and played it for years, each expansion added such cool unit options. My only worry for this game is that, without the large name of Blizzard, without their server capacity however wonky, and without the prestige of the Pros and Tournaments and so on that maybe it will be hard for it to get any love. I hope I'm wrong! I'd love a game that is free of the vined entanglement of a huge corporation that develops a game like SC2 over YEARS AND YEARS with a drip of content when in reality it could have had so much more content if an indie company had free reign to just create.

Lol, "there's no pay to win". You literally have to buy Heroes.

So it's like WC3 mixed with SC2 and has hero's of the storm elements. Don't really need to attack the base u do the objectives and that destroys the enemy base then u attack it in-between the objectives

I spent my whole childhood playing SC1, but it was always playing UCM(user-custom maps), basically they were equivalent to flash games made in starcraft. It'd be great if something similar came from this game. Though I doubt it's in their scope.

While a lot of the comments dont have any hope for this game the kickstarter reached its goal within 15 minutes today and just crossed the 500k mark. There seems to be a decent demand for a game like this. Keep in mind this is early beta footage. SC2 didnt look nearly as good in early stages as it did when it was released.

This may be a bit too much like Starcraft. I'm curious to know what they are doing different and new.

That's interesting because most of the community was saying it was too close to warcraft 3 , and too far away from starcraft, atleast when the first gameplay reveal was released. The beta is looking more Starcraft-y as in terms of responsiveness, but I still think its rather different than starcraft...Most people are wanting a competitive game where the skill ceiling is high, so this gameplay seems like a step in the right direction. Frost giant mentioned they want to appeal to a larger audience, and lowering the barrier of entry by making the mechanics and in game strategies easier to use.

"Are there any walls in this game?" To quote some great SC2 commentators, "micro your macro." Building placement is a tactical consideration in and of itself, influenced by map design, faction dynamics, and build needs. RTS meta takes a while to absorb. Also this is he longest Stormgate content I've yet seen and it's awesome- hope to see more!

I love RTS like Starcraft 2 and AoE4 but this games design looks soulless af. Even if the gameplay is good, if they have success with it they should hire some people that design completely new assets for units and buildings and invent factions that have more character

Loving this spiritual successor to SC2 and old Warcraft, nice fusion, some polishing and this should be fun

I played a bit of starcraft and a bit of c&c, but my main RTS games were both of the Halo Wars games. I know baby's first RTS but damn those games were fun and surprisingly playable on a controller

I'm gonna be honest, I suck at RTS games, but this one looks interesting and I want to try it.

I grew up on C&C, Warcraft and StarCraft. These were my gateway games. We need to revive RTS, this game will get my undying support!

UI too big, camera zoom is too close, textures need polishing, then I think its a PERFECT addition to the RTS genre! Can't wait to play it.

im glad he made a stormgate video stormgate and the company really deserve the most spotlighting they can get. i dont doubt even without a marketing team they will rise to the top upon the first month/year of release.

It's just weird seeing Asmongold not calling it out and acting as if it's anything more than a f2p Starcraft clone with uglier graphics and absolutely uninteresting story/atmosphere/IP. I thought Asmon is one of those who will give unbiased opinions, but I guess he can do that just with WoW, D4 or other Blizzard games.

you should also check out Beyond All Reason its a very cool community made adaptation of an old RTS named Total Annihilation its very good

It looks good, but watching him play is too cringe. I'm not expecting a master, but attack moving and control groups are the very basics. I really hope there is a 5 minute tutorial to teach new players the bare minimum here. Still, it's cool that Asmon is showing interest in a game like this, so far out of his wheelhouse.

The visual aspects give me a heavy mobile game vibe but the base building looks good, combat could have units doing more or just look more fluid in general. I wouldn't mind seeing halo wars 2 style combat with starcraft building and asthetics

Having the vanguard/terran units feel familiar is such a good thing for those who played RTS back in its heyday. Hoping the new gen of gamers experience and enjoy this like us internet boomers!

Should be able to auto zoom in and out to full revealed map at any point. Like in forged alliance.

This is Warcraft just re skinned. Or star craft skinned in WC. Either way I’m here for it. Can’t wait for it to come out, miss the good ol RTS.

Was funny watching them think they could survive another bombardment when the mission object was already 2/3 towards the failure state!

My favorite RTS is still Halo Wars and I wish there would be another ‘beginner’ RTS like that

i do think the camera need to be pulled out just a touch, also visability on the infernal units between yours and the enemy could be a little clearer. also i think the UI could be scaled down a LOT more. i think between the UI being so big and the tight zoom distance it makes it feel just a little clasterphobic and like you cant get enough info. that being said the map feels quite a bit smaller then your standard 1x1 SC2 map.

I feel like each faction should have it own hero just like in wc3 like the undead,humans,nightelfs etc

Hero Lvl System would be good, camps to farm, etc.

This looks great Frost Giant, I eagerly await being able to play this game.

Though saddened that there will be only 2 factions at launch (with at least a third one coming later). I am happy to see former Blizzard employees doing what they do best...Making good RTS games

As a shitty Zerg on the StarCraft 2 ladder I’m glad to see more people playing RTS games, they have so much potential!

Great gameplay. I..feel?...like RTS games are making a comeback with quality titles. Another one I HOPE is good is Tempest Rising. Fingers crossed. I love this genre.
