So I got bogged | 6x6 Land Rover Perentie

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I came to a difficult crossing, turning around wasn't an option, and as best I could tell, going straight ahead also did not appear to be a sensible course of action, despite careful assessment.
Some days, you can do everything correct, and still loose...

I also reversing my Perentie 6x6 a real pain in the arse in mud as having two back wheels in tandem won’t let you steer 😤

Not as well as a normal 4x4 no.But I do appreciate the extra traction, and load capacity, sorely needed in this.

It really helps id a trench was dug in for the cable so as to reduce the vertical pull on the tyre

Yeah I did figure that out in subsequent attempts, my main issue was that the hole kept filling with water, and the tire floated up. By the time I got to wedging it in with my shovel, help had arrived.

Damn, that must have been so deep and sticky mud for a 6x6 to get stuck!

@@dustyfarmer They have tubes, they are properly rated tires for the task, and were chosen in consultation with tire service, and a mate/former RAEME engineer who dealt extensively with these vehicles. With the trailer, my total mass was 6.5 tons. 60psi is usually my road pressure, 50 is generally what I'm at in these conditions, much lower and I risk rolling the rear tires off the rims on a hard turn (6x6 remember). I need not explain how much of a pain in the ass that is to fix in the field. also - consider how you feel waking up every morning to a host of captain hindsights telling you what you should have done when things were not as expected.... That's my life now. You don't seem to like being corrected either. The track conditions here were unexpected and drastically different to the previous recon down the very same track. This track was chosen specifically because it was normally well maintained and not full of holes. I wanted an easy day, not a hardcore get bogged recovery day - I never want those. I have MS - washing mud off my vehicles, and fixing crap is not my idea of fun, nor is getting bogged, and nor are "hardcore 4x4 adventures" and therefore I avoid it all costs. I hate doing mechanical repairs with a passion, but I am unfortunately unable to always pay someone else to do it, and also prefer that the repairs be done correctly, and therefore I do said repairs myself and show that process on this channel. And subsequently get told that I've done everything wrong. I would complain that nobody sticks their hand up to help, but two viewers have in recent times - and their contributions have been invaluable.

You should carry a modern boat anchor like the Spade with you. It’ll dig itself into the ground by itself :-)

@@johnnyallen2539Yeah I'll get a high lift one of these days, but this is also not my usually terrain, this was an unexpected and unavoidable detour. There is no hard base under this too, so high lift would have just sunk in. The trailer side of things, also demonstrates why most people suggest you don't disconnect the trailer.

When you are 6.5 tons, you risk stalling in high range.

I think after this adventure it’s time too once again sit down with your senior financial manager and discuss getting the next military vehicle maybe a tracked military vehicle nothing overly big or fancy maybe a Matilda or something like that would work . lol glad to see you got out ok and people were kind enough to help you out not a common thing these days .
