Not a patch on the UK's Till Death Us Do Part, upon which All In The Family is based. Alf Garnett was far more outspoken (race, politics etc.) which US networks didn't allow. The series was followed by Till Death... and then In Sickness And In Health. kzread.info/head/PLgeGcX2U-sIGC-OhLbHpppoDrkUy3a1Ir&si=4PVGluSzcIQxfnaE

70's kid here and loved watching this show every week. #1 show for 5 yrs. straight. The cousin Maude episode and Cousin Oscar dying in the attic my 2 favorite episodes, but they are all hilarious. People didn't take things so seriously back then and we could laugh at each other without shooting and other violence. No thin skin.

The bed sharing came about because Archie and Mike had a bet and didn't trust each other. The bet was that Mike, a voracious eater, couldn't go without food for 24 hours and Archie couldn't go without his cigars for 24 hours.

Nothing like the Norman Lear series of comedies before or since. They took on social issues head on that you will never see again on television. Thanks for the program; very much enjoy the chance to see these programs again after all of these years.

The chair trick is 100% legit. It's simply a fact that women have a lower center of gravity, so they can do it. Men have a higher center of gravity so they can't. That list left out the single funniest Archie Bunker moment. Look up "Archie meets Sammy Davis Jr." to see the longest audience laugh in television history.

You asked if Maude was Edith's mom and the answer is no. Maude was Edith's cousin who lives in the suburbs of NYC. She made two appearances on All in the Family before being spun off into her own sitcom called Maude. She was a fierce liberal and the two appearances she made on All in the Family were some of the funniest. Her and Archie arguing is comedy TV gold.

I enjoyed your reaction but I don't think that these clips were even close to Archie Bunker's funniest moments. Even if you leave out his controversial moments for the most part like this video does you can still find clips that are much better. I'm not saying that these clips weren't funny but with all of the hysterical moments on 'All In The Family' they were mediocre at best.

u gotta watch the episode with Sammy Davis, Jr. 😂😂😂😂 this compilation was good but there are more episodes that were better. the one when he and Mike argued about the correct way to put on shoes. or even the episode when he had to "teach" Mike how to properly get into bed. the show was a master class for comedy back in the 70s. it won several Emmy awards. millions of people turned in every Sunday to see this show. 😂

  • @NoEgg4u

There were many other great scenes that I found funnier and more entertaining than the compilation from this video. Examples: -- The visit from Sammy Davis Jr. For his entire visit, one thing after another made for non-stop hilarity. -- Stuck in the elevator with a Spanish couple and an affluent black man. -- Arguing with MIke over putting on socks and shoes. -- Blood transfusion in the hospital form a black, female doctor, and also getting shaved by that doctor. -- Having to drop his pants for a shot by a nurse. -- Virtually any scenes with visits from George Jefferson (the "you people" scene was hilarious). -- Lionel implying that Archie was Jewish. -- Any number of scenes where Edith portrays herself as a dingbat, and drives Archie crazy. -- The eulogy for Stretch Cunningham. There are many other great scenes -- but hard to remember them all. The scenes from this reaction video were decent, but nothing special. And for a reaction video, when you do not know the character traits of the cast, some of the humor will not be evident.

I am in my mid 50s and loved this show. I really did not know many back people until I was in my teens. Everyone around me was racist to some degree. By my teen years I rejected it all but kind of kept my mouth shut. Now I will call out racist people when I can. It is so disgusting to me now. Archie was a victim of his only upbringing and ignorance. As the show evolved he grew to really care about people different than himself. I understand that journey. Watching this beautiful young lady breaking down what she watched and how she feels about it proves we live in much better times. Things are far from perfect but good people do always win out vs evil.

Archie is hilarious for his time, the black guy is George Jefferson from the spin off the Jefferson’s he is his rival one don’t like anything that isn’t white and the other doesn’t like anything that isn’t black. lol, that kind of rascist bigotry wouldn’t be allowed today on tv but it’s funny for the 1970’s

Fun reaction, you really should check out "All In The Family," "Compilation Of Archie Bunkers Racist Comments" it's around 20 long and you'll laugh your ass off. One more is All In The Family "Archie Bunker Compilation On Religion" Hilarious! It's around 18 minutes long. Please check these out. Also, more Beatles please! Loved your "Here Comes The Sun" and "Come Together" reactions. Peace ❤

Archie was a great character, portrayed by a great actor. He was a depiction on old thinking, but over time he learned to be less bigoted and racially insensitive. He loved to say mean things, but later in the show, when someone else would say something racist, Archie would defend against it. Great writing and acting.

You need to see the rest of the Basement skit, they cut it off before the good part.

I have Tourette Sysndrome and it causes me to make strange hand movements pretty similar to the ones you were displaying in the beginning. Do you also have turrets? Do you go to therapy or take any medication for it? I do both and it helps a little but i still get those strange ticks sometimes. It used to be embarrassing when i was younger but now its just part of who i am. Btw i love your hair. Did you dye it yourself or did you go to a salon?

The character of Archie Bunker was a bigot but Archie didn't know any better and it's the environment he grew up in. He slowly did change over time

Archie Bunker was the lampshade of bigotry back when those shows were on. His comedy was not to make racism jokes funny, but to make racism blatantly foolish. It was groundbreaking considering what was allowed to be on TV,. Only a decade or two earlier, wife and husband weren't even allowed to be shown sharing a bed as that was considered too racy and sexual, but had to have separate beds. All In The Family broke down so many barriers. The best part of the "trapped in the cellar" episode was the end. He clearly thought he was going to die trapped down there and he finally starts praying to Jesus to rescue him. A bright light shines down the stairs as his prayer is answered and a man comes down. Archie believes this must be Jesus coming to save him. The man is black and Archie has his mind blown that Jesus is a black man. (It is just one of the neighbors who happens to be black and he heard a noise).
