While I think in a lot of ways, 3PO is a better character than Jarjar, his Episode 2 scenes at Geonosis were far worse than anything Jarjar did. Trying to be the comedic relief, making stupid puns, while dozens of Jedi are dying all around, in what's supposed to be a very intense and dramatic scene. Terrible. That's part of why Episode 2 is not as good as Episode 1.

Most people put so much credit on Irvin Kirshner for how perfectly the movie turned out, and while it’s well deserved, George Lucas was a huge part in it, he knew exactly what would work, and what wouldn’t, for example the original script had Han getting away, but Ford and Kirshner wanted Han to die, so George met in the middle with the idea, and came up with Han being taken by Boba Fett, it’s geniuses working off of each other that makes the original trilogy work the best on a cinematic level! Compare that to the sequel trilogy, imagine if Johnson and Abrams wrote them together, and had to meet in the middle like that. They are both extremely talented, but the entire trilogy comes off as a giant ego battle between two talented directors

@@andersongray9820George can create a good roadmap for a film. As well he has always been an idea guy. The prequels are boring but they have a very good sense of direction from one scene to the next and his ideas really helped the world expand. Sure they’re a slog at times (except episode 3. I’ll defend that hill till the sun explodes, that movie rocks.) but because of that slog a series like the clone wars can feel so realized. Good foundation. George would have served the Disney trilogy well had they…. Well kept his original script, held onto him as a writer or at least as a creative consultant.

Read about this scene in Anthony Daniels' Autobiography (he's the actor playing Threepio), apparently there was special work done to actually allow him to grip something with his suit's gloves (normally he can't hold anything and could barely move in the old suits), he was really proud of the scene and was quite upset when he found out it was cut!

We know how stupidly designed the death star was, so I wouldn't be surprised if star destroyers really had only one key and that it was handed to a random infantry man during full on invasion. Would be a cool premise for a star wars sitcom. Imagine everyone is moving back into the star destroyer after the invasion. But there's a huge line in front of the main door. And fucking Gary of course lost the keys. The only keys they had. No one knows what to do (the keys were in stormtrooper white colors, good luck finding that on hoth). The officers are screaming at everyone they can, mostly at Gary. And then Vader comes. He eyes everyone, realizes what's happened, and then you hear his signature, long, breath in. And he says - "Fuck me..." , and walks away.

@@Unga_Bunga I just realized that this is Cannon. Remember the end of Empire Strikes Back? The Falcon is trying to escape, and Vader's ship is about to catch them, and they jump to hyperspace. Rather than continue the pursuit (as there is no way that the Empire hadn't put another tracking device on the Falcon), they just sit there in silence, and Vader storms off of the bridge. That was clearly because someone had lost the keys to the ship, so they were dead in space!

Zachary Sheetz Anakin. In star wars, there appears to be no religion from Earth. EDIT: No idea why this is getting such attention, but yes I know the Jedi, Sith, Nightsisters, etc. are religions. I meant religions from Earth, like Christianity or Catholicism. While they do say "Hell" in a few instances, it's actually a reference to Chaos, which is a location in Corellian mythology known as Hell or The Void! It's said to contain the spirits of deceased Dark Lords of the Sith, and other passed Force users that tangled with the Dark Side.

also, why should they help him? Those troopers are mindless, willingless clones who follow any order without questioning it... They are not people to the empire, they are tools. And if one screwdriver falls into a Wampa dungeon, you don't risk anything to get it out, you go to your toolbox and take a new one... It's not worth it to the empire. If Vader chokes real people to death on the daily, why care about a clone you can replace 1000 times a day.

Fun fact! There was a game to-be where you were a rebel trooper on Hoth and were isolated from the main rebel base in tunnels filled with Wampas. I remember it was in a magazine and I was excited for a Star Wars survival/Horror, but I cannot remember the name. It was cancelled, but I could 100% see that being the one tunnel nobody goes into after your video game rebel escapes...or doesn't. I was also really excited for Star Wars: Stormtrooper, since I got a taste with Rebel Assault II, but I still hold out hope...I do not know why, but I do.

@@jimmyboy131 You had the option of fighting wampas in Shadows of the Empire I believe. Not recommended due to their high health and devastating damage, but you could fight them and kill them. I wouldn't be surprised if on their way out the door, the rebels opened whatever wampa cages they had to slow the snowtroopers down as the latter entered the base.

When your movie is so good even the deleted scenes are legendary. George rocks.

"Are you going to get him out?" "Yes Lord Vader, we're just assessing the situation first. Like we learnt back at the training grounds. "Fair enough. Carry on"

I remember doing this on the Nintendo 64. Just luring troopers to wampas. I wish more videogames had enemies that would fight each other in front of you it never gets old.

Technically it's also referenced in Shadows of the Empire since Wampas are walking around the on-foot Hoth level

That was one of the hardest parts of that level for me. You walk into that room for no reason, and then you have to furiously shoot the Wampas, which just tank hits for no reason (while one of them is attacking you)

@@SwordsmanMercenary In the original Battlefront II, you can set up a "hunt" battle on Hoth or Endor. Hoth would be Rebs vs. Wampas, Endor would be Imps vs. Ewoks.

I like how lethargic and depressed looking the Snowtroopers are.

considering this is the only time you ever see snowtroopers it would have been nice to actually see them DO SOMETHING in the movie.

The epic battle with the snow troopers storming the base to neutralize the last defenders who bravely stayed behind to buy thier comrades time is probably going to play out better In Your head anyway

Its the same guys who boarded Leia's ship in the previous movie so you do see them do stuff just not in the snow trooper armor. The 501st is also always right behind Vader.

​@@captainkyperplayz1162false. The 501st journal states that the 501st lost a lot of men on the Death Star, and that the 501st started including human recruits as well. To the surprise of the narrator these new guys were extremely effective and he retracted his comment about them from Kamino, now considering them worthy to carry on the 501st legacy.

@@captainkyperplayz1162 I don't know if they mentioned the whole thing in the game or not, they had time constraints so not all of the journal was included there is a video full of cut stuff that I don't have the link too but if you search for it it shouldn't be hard to find.

"All too easy" or "super easy barely an inconvenience" -Vader

Vader is just like "I don't have time for this, My daughter and her future Husband are escaping."

Vader is like: “Haizz, I wish you guys were younglings”

I love how everyone on here gave Vader different thoughts😂

Everyone keeps saying Vader stopped to listen to the Storm Trooper getting eaten, but he actual stopped and thought, “Did I turn the stove off before I left? …. Yes.”

And Vader just didn't wanna deal with it today

I find that one snowtrooper hyperventilating at the door because he almost got killed is the funniest part.

It's consistent. One of the Empire's many flaws is that they train their soldiers not to value life, not even their comrades, so they don't have empathy towards them because they know the opposite is also true, which is the reason there are so many instances of friendly fire among stormtroopers.

The premise of this scene is out-of-character for C-3P0, cartoonish in execution, clashes with the tone and pace of Act I's conclusion, which is why Disney would have kept it in the final edit and recorded dialogue at 0:19 in the vain of "Well... _that_ just happened!"

@@VersedFlameexcept for the fact we also see plenty of instances where they break that rule just like there are instances in the lore for the rebel alliance on some of them not caring about their comrades and willing to sacrifice their own just to beat the empire and even murdering each other in some cases. There will always be people that simply don’t follow every rule regardless of the organization.

@@danielwilliams1989 I don't see how that proves what I said wrong? Despite there being people not following their rules, that's still what they are trained for. Besides, it's different between the Empire and the Rebels. The stormtroopers simply don't care, while when rebels have to sacrifice one of their own, it's a dramatic situation.

I feel robbed, because this would’ve been C-3PO’s greatest moment in any of the films.

That is so true, Vader comes in like: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! And he walks away saying "idiots".

Vader could have gone in there and soloed that wampa but decided "nah"

He could have done it, too. But, he considered that to be a waste of his time. That would have improved the scene, if Vader went in there, and there was some screaming and howling, and Vader came out with the all beaten up trooper.

Is nobody gonna talk about how C-3PO intentionally sidestepped those Snowtroopers with quick thinking

Vader stopped and looked at him and then returned to his search without a word.

Vader is like: "Well he'll be chewing on him for a while. Let me know when he's done."

What amazes me about the original trilogy are the many gems that were cut from the final reel, this being a great example. Another piece I found a while back that was supposed to have been included in RotJ shows Luke in a cave somewhere on tatooine making some final adjustments to his newly constructed green lightsaber, in the moments leading up to Han's rescue. Amazing.

C3PO playing comic foil? The sudden appearance of a cartoonishly long abominable snowman arm? Nope it's the Wilhelm scream that makes this scene epic!

"Even Vader doesn't care" Man, he will care the least

Snowtroopers are assholes: I spoke to a guy at a local convention who played a Snowtrooper in ESB, he was signing photos etc and I mentioned this scene and he told me he was the one who opened the door. The way he described the scene it was clear he wasn't (he said the arm wasn't there and was added afterwards, they just had to react to it). I also met two different guys who were claiming to be the Stormtrooper that bumped his head in Episode IV.
