I’ve had this vac for 2-3 years & it works very well. My only comment is I wish it had a little more suction power. All in all, it’s a Neat ash vac & gets the job done. I would recommend it.

Thanks for commenting. I noticed that Snowjoe has an upgraded model with a little more power. I vacuumed my entire woodstove in just a few minutes. It pretty much filled the canister.

You know, that full pan of ashes that you dumped would have made a good test of how well it picks up deep, fine ash. All you really did was vacuum a bit off the exterior and just inside the door.

This vacuum is kinda small and fills up fast with ash. I'd have to empty it every time if I vacuumed out all the ash. It's easier to just get the heavy ash out with the pan or a shovel and do the rest of the cleanup with this.

@@brentphillips262 It sucks the ashes from my wood stove and I still use it to this day. It's not powerful like a big shop vac, but does the job. Sorry if I didn't demonstrate it enough. I normally try and put tools to the test so you can see if it's right for you. If I ever get another one, I'll do a comparison.

How much suction should i have.? Brand new and the suction is poor pipe wont stay sucked to your hand.

  • @MarkThomasBuilder

The suction is just enough to remove ash. It's not nearly as good as a shop vac, but does the job. This is the only one I ever tested, so I may have to try another brand this fall.

The vacum is decent but the pre-filter sucks after 2 or 3 cleanings it starts falling apart at the seams, I ordered a replacement filter and the same thing happened again. I contacted the company they would not replace either pre filter, I'm done. Shopping for a new one asap !

I use my ash shovel to get the heavy stuff and this vac to get the small stuff, so I don't run it too long. I don't have another brand to compare it to yet, but think it's time this month I buy another one and make a vid.

Frankly, I've been burning wood for decades and never could understand a "COLD ASH" Vac. If the ashes are already cold, then why couldn't you just use your house vacuum cleaner? I've owned my HOT ASH vac for twenty plus years and absolutely love it.

This vacuum seems like it's built to handle hot coals too. I think it's labeled cold ash for liability reasons. I'd like to hear what others think.

@@MarkThomasBuilder I would be suspect of the Snow Joe Filters handling anything to hot as they (at least in the video) don't look fireproof. The one main filter on my Hot Ash Vac definitely looks, feels and is fireproof. It looks to be a shiny Asbestos type (but not) material. I have sucked up hot ash/embers to the point where a little bit of smoke was coming out of the vac and still no damage to the filter or vac itself. Generally, I am a fan of Sun Joe / Snow Joe Stuff..... but speaking strictly for myself.....I'd pass on their ash vac unless a person has the time to let the stove COMPLETELY cool down before having at it.
