Snow Storm Van Life - Heading Into a Blizzard in the Mountains - Winter Vanlife Camping in the North
Van Life - Driving Into a Snow Storm in Extreme Weather - Winter Van Camping in Blizzard #vanlife #vanlifers #vanlifetravelvlog
From winter camping in a quiet beautiful snowy spot, I had to cross a mountain with my two wheel drive van in the most intense snow storm I have ever driven in. Trees where down, tunnels where closed and I could not see much as I drove over the wild mountains of the north. It was snowing like crazy and a complete whiteout and my windows where freezing... It was a real adventure. Did I make it, did I drive into a ditch, did my van break down? Watch and see:-)

I drove from Southern Ontario to home 🏡 where my mom lives. The trip is 600 kms long. Of the trip I drove 400 kms in all out snow ❄️ storm. I had a Toyota Tacoma and drove in 4 wheel drive hi range. Max speed is 100 kph in 4 hi. So I drove 100 kph and by the time I got my mom's place 30cm of snow had fallen. This was in April at Easter. 4 wheel drive is superior for driving and also slowing down. In 4 wheel drive brake distance is about two vehicle lengths shorter than 2 wheel drive.
Back in 1980 I bought a new cj. -5 keep and whenever it was the worse outside is when my friends and I would hit the woods. We had a lot of fun.

My dad is half Norwegian (his mom was from Oslo), and I inherited a lot of it somehow, you know dna is so complicated. So Ancestry says I am 48% Norwegian. But I am also a quarter Hawaiian and some other things like Irish, Scottish, Welsh. I was raised in Hawaii and I remember dreaming of the cold and snow when I was a kid. I think dna really has a lot to do with our bodies and the way we live our lives. I think being Norwegian, my body tends to do really well in colder temps. I actually cannot stand the heat and the hot sun. I avoid it if I can. When I got older, I did live in Alaska and Colorado for a short time. I loved it. I seemed to fit right in. But my mother is Hawaiian and I had to come back to Hawaii to help her. Anyway, I still dream of the snow and cold weather. And my name is Heidi!

I did recognise that tunnel direct when i saw it. Steinfjellet from Brekkvasselv to Rörvik og Gjersvik. Been in Brekkis fishing since early 70,s at Brekkvasselv camping. Beautiful lil place as river Namsen runs just by it. Between Brekkis and Trones the fishing is absolutley awesome with them small hybrid salmons living there. They taste like crap but fun to catch even though they dont get that big. Going up there 2024 again and hope the weather is better then last year cos the dam at Namsvatnet was fully open so river was full and then its no good fishing.

Life's adventure. I love getting out and driving in those conditions. It really keeps your skill level up and adrenalin as well. Had to do it in the mountains for many years. One needs prepared in case you get stuck with no one around. Be ready to spend at least two nights out, maybe more. Break out the Hilleberg. If I had a group B rally car with studded wheels I could clear a pretty good trail. Jarl that was fun. Don't run out of coffee.
