Hands down the 400ex is like one of the best all year long quads. I’ve got two in the shop that have been rebuilt with 440 kit and stage two hotcams aside a few other things. Started one up yesterday fired right up just needs a better valve adjustment. The other one won’t start at all so thanks to your previous vid on the 450 we removed the head and the intake valves where just way to tight so hoping today to clear that up and hoping to ride soon.

Can't go wrong with a good ole 400ex they are very reliable if you keep up with the maintenance but hell I've see them run with not much of a carrier bearing left an a shitty front sprocket an they would still rip lol

TRX400EX was the best trail quad made. I have an '07. Love it. Has reverse.

I have a trx 450r what jetting do you have for the winter or recommend because I have a dasa exhaust and it has a 180 main jet and no air box lid so if you could tell me what main jet to run for the cold that would be good I was thinking a 165 and put the lid back on

It does sound good 👍 you need to get some friends a go trail riding last year me and my friends did a 86 mile ride this last saturday did a 38 mile we ride mostly in the Arkansas national forest take your best atv because you well find out whats wrong with it in about 10 miles but your putting up some great videos 📹 👌

You prolly wont see this but there is a special way to check the oil on a 400ex

Hey man I’m having a few issues with my 400ex first is it’s burning oil but hardly smoking would that be the rings? Second is my battery wants to almost die after probably 3 hours of riding. My neutral light will flicker when I try to start it.

i remember when the 400ex first came out everyone in my school that rode atv's started selling their banshees and 250R's to get one and now a good banshee or 250R is probably worth more than a 400ex

I’ve been looking for a Tecate 4 since I got out of high school in 2002, they are so rare and if there is one available it’s way too expensive... love the channel!!

I’m bout to pick up a 400ex with an issue to try and fix! If I had a question would you help for me said it just needs the gasket replaced if I have a question Ill ask I’ll hope for a reply!

Are you checking the oil filters for shavings after you rebuild these bikes. Even if it's your 100th rebuild. I'm a honda guy as well I'll always trust a honda 400ex an a xr 650 an of course the 450s but I like the classics. You should looks out for any of the 200an 350xs they are great bikes too. Nice vid man you've come along way

Remember to never overfill your quad with oil, Easiest way to blow a head gasket!!!

I've been ripping my rc truck in the snow. I haven't ripped dirt bike because the clutch needs to be fixed

Bro tell me about it, I have an 03 400ex with extended rear axels, pro taper bars, and I just put on a big gun evo r with headers, and an uni foam filter, of course I jetted it, 42 pilot and 160 Main, should probably go down to a 158, or I'm thinking take my air box lid off and put a 165 in it who knows, and the thing rips, best quad out there hands down. only thing I had to do when I got it this august was put new clutch plates in, and a new clutch perch lever and cable. I recommend the pro taper clutch perch for a 400. I love this quad. hands down best quad out there.

Mate where do I start? When you started the quad instant reminder of my xr400 sounds exactly the same crisp! An then the snow! Those are supposed to run for 5 mins then sit for 5 then check mine will have half ish and be lower after that cuz your oil drains from oil cooler and what not but I'd check into that bud 👍👍👍👍

2or 4 stroke ? An if it's 4 make sure you can pick out a valve knock vs a worn out crank bearing. If you hear any ticks from the bike put a screw driver to where you think it's coming from an then put it up to your ear an you will be able to hear it just like stethoscope the docs use.

He's got a point on that one great bikes for a new rider or a younger rider. They where really bad for valve know but they just need shimming an tightened an them motors do run for ever as well.
