Snorkelling Filitheyo island resort house reef. Faafu Atoll, Maldives Dec 2022 4K
The current around the island was strong at times, the water was full of plankton and visibility was not brilliant due to recent storms. Filitheyo house reef like others in the Maldives has been affected by the coral bleaching following the El Nino event in 2016 but coral polyps are growing back and the animal life on the reef is surprisingly good. We saw tawny nurse sharks, grey, black and white tip reef sharks, sting and eagle rays, large groupers, Napoleon wrasses, hawksbill and green turtles and much more!.

Glad you enjoyed the video. It was filmed using Gopro Hero 10 at 5K 60p. Colour correction (add back red wavelengths) was done using Wondershare Filmora software😊
Great video may I ask what time of year you visited? We are thinking of going next month in June? Understand it’s the start or wet season though

We went in December. Don't remember having much rain. Main issue is that the water can be cloudy due to plankton etc and visibility is reduced

@@drkavahed ok great thanks. Just don’t want to spend all the money to be rained on or not be able to snorkel. Wouldn’t the plankton bring in the mantas and whale sharks?

Great Video ! My wife and I are looking to travel there next Feb 2024, Did you stay in an over water unit ? do you know if the snorkeling is good right off of the water units ?

We stayed in superior bungalow. The drop off is about 30 metres from the nearest water bungalows. This part of the reef was where we saw many turtles and the shoals of batfish
