🎅 Snoopy's Christmas vs. The Red Baron - The Royal Guardsmen
Ойын-сауық
The Royal Guardsmen were 5 guys from Ocala, Florida. They recorded a quartet of songs inspired by Snoopy the Beagle in the "Peanuts" comic strip between 1967 and 1968.
This was the third in the list of Snoopy songs. This was rereleased around Christmas the following 2 years.
Two lines from the traditional song "O Tannenbaum" (the German version of "O Christmas Tree") are featured at the very beginning of this song.
This song takes place during World War I, and follows up on "Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron," where Snoopy is a fighter pilot. In "Snoopy's Christmas," The Red Baron decides not to shoot Snoopy down, but forces him to land and gives him a Christmas gift.
Song Lyrics:
The news it came out in the First World War
The bloody Red Baron was flying once more
The Allied Command ignored all of its men
And called on Snoopy to do it again
Was the night before Christmas and forty below
When Snoopy went up in search of his foe
He spied the Red Baron and fiercely they fought
With ice on his wings, Snoopy knew he was caught
Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ring out from the land
Asking peace of all the world
And good will to man
The Baron had Snoopy dead in his sights
He reached for the trigger to pull it up tight
Why he didn't shoot, well, we'll never know
Or was it the bells from the village below
{Refrain}
Christmas bells those Christmas bells
Ringing through the land
Bringing peace to all the world
And good will to man
The Baron made Snoopy fly to the Rhine
And forced him to land behind the enemy lines
Snoopy was certain that this was the end
When the Baron cried out "Merry Christmas, mein friend!"
The Baron then offered a holiday toast
And Snoopy our hero saluted his host
And then with a roar they were both on their way
Each knowing they'd meet on some other day
{Refrain twice}

My dad treated a captured German soldier so kindly that the solider carved a small deer out of wood for him and a very touching thank you letter
I hate to admit it, but every time I hear "Merry Christmas, mein friend" I choke up. Could use more of that in this world.

My oldest brother came back home from Vietnam and brought me a turn table and this album. It was the first stereo I have ever herd. I put a head phone jack just to hear the right and left separation. My brother is not around more. The war took his tole on him. I play Snoopy's Christmass ever Christmass to remind of him. I became a DJ and work around electronics. I play it for my grown up kids to remember the both of us. My life is growing shorter and hope to see my brother again. God for give what this world is coming too. Patrick McDonald

@patrickmcdonald7690 Thank you for sharing your story with us. It touched my heart deeply and I'm so sorry you lost your brother. May he be Resting In Peace. I thank him for his service and I can understand the heavy toll. It must have taken on him. Because my dad was in WWII and the Korean War and he was never the same after that. He became an alcoholic and died in 1997. Our brave soldiers/family members. Made the ultimate sacrifice of having to fight in wars. That they never should have been involved in and it makes me angry. Because were paying the price for not being able to have them here with us. Our P.O.S. government has blood on their hands and it's a stain they can never remove and they will answer for it one day. And yes may God forgive for what the world has come to. Because it's in terrible shape.

Although my mom (Being 94 yrs old as of October 2018) is German and had been through WW2. My grandfather on her side was a soldier in WW1. Pray for peace - everyone. That is how we will change the world; with our thoughts and our actions that follow.

I have always enjoyed this song. I truly love the beautiful acapella rendition of Oh Tannenbaum sung in German at the beginning. I also like the impromptu Champaigne toast between the Red Baron and Snoopy. "Merry Christmas mein friend." I would like to be able to quaff a root beer with the two of them. When I was a boy in Arizona growing up, I worked in the fields when they were crop dusting. When the biplanes were completing a run at the end of the field, they would pull up and pass right overhead. The powerful roar of the rotary engine gave me chills. Another Christmas song that I truly like is The Chipmunk Song. Am I weird? I'm freaking 65 years old.

This song became a big hit here in NZ, for me it’s not Christmas until I hear Snoopy

This was my family’s Christmas song back in the 60’s. Made my day to hear it again, I believe I’m 50 years younger❤️
It's the middle of summer but this song is always relevant and enjoyable.
my friend was walking in a fresh snow fall singing this. she was having trouble remembering the name of the song and had no ideas where it came from.guess her grampa use to sing and play it when she was a child. great song
I never appreciated the significance of this song as a kid ..Then years later it hit home as to how moving it was ...about how two bitter enemies can even find some feelings for each other at that special time of year ...
Every year once or twice have to listen it. In elementary school my nickname was snoopy.
My Christmas isn't complete until I come here to listen to this song.
One of my very favorite Christmas songs! ❤

I still have this 45 from the early 70s!!!
My dad loved these guys. He was buried Christmas Eve 1997. This makes me tear up every time I hear it
Still go back to this song around this time of year. My Grandfather used to play this song so much when we were growing up. Stereo set up on the patio and all us grandkids playing in the snow. God don't i miss that man..
My friends find it hilarious that I, a 16 year old, find so much enjoyment in this song. They think it's stupid that I live in the past during Christmas. I'd rather pretend it's the 60s when people weren't offended by "Merry Christmas" and presents were given from the heart and not just because it's expected. Tears don't fall because you want them to. Tears fall because your heart has felt too much.

People aren't offended by "Merry Christmas." You are discounting what is actually happening. People are sad because their holidays aren't included, such as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa and sometimes Ramadan, which depends on the cycles of the moon. Instead, it's like so many people want to ram down their throats the exclusivity of Christ in the world. Christ is not the ruler of the world and God is Abraham's father to Jews, Christians, and Muslims. The Crusades were horrible to people. Missionaries brought disease to far flung civilizations. The Inquisition forced so many to deny their faith. Yet some folks cry when Merry Christmas isn't posted everywhere. Love God as you see fit but not at the cost of someone else's love or lack of love for Him. It is no one's job to tell others how to love or who to love. That being said, I wish you a heartfelt and very Merry Christmas. - Frederic Kahler, Apalachicola, FL

@Ben Finny You're missing the point of Dana Allen's comment. Nobody is trying to "ruin Christmas." It's just that every year, before December 25, everybody seems to want to shove Christmas down everyone's throats. It sort of gives the impression that Christmas is the only holiday in the world that comes around in the winter time. It ignores other holidays like Kwanzaa and Chanukah. We seem to forget that not everyone in the world is a Christian, that there are other religions in this world. But too many people seem to think that Christianity is the ONLY TRUE FAITH, and that Christmas is the only real holiday that matters. That's especially so in the United States, where references to Christmas are everywhere around wintertime, but there are almost no references to Chanukah, and even less references to Kwanzaa. Part of the problem is that Americans are experts at commercializing Christmas, which is why the stores are always filled with Yuletide items (lights, decorations, Christmas trees, etc) for sale around the start of the season, and sometimes even before Thanksgiving. This can have a negative effect on newly arrived immigrants who have probably never heard of Christmas because it's rarely celebrated or mentioned where they came from. Thus, they get the idea that Christmas is a completely AMERICAN HOLIDAY, and that they HAVE TO CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS just to show that they're "true Americans" now, even if Christmas was never a part of their native country or their culture. Even American-born citizens who aren't Christians feel they have to observe the Yuletide holiday, even though it's not a part of their culture or religion, like the Jews, for example. This is probably why Jewish celebrities feel they have to go through the motions of not only celebrating Christmas, but enjoying it. That's why every year, comedian Jack Benny always had an annual Christmas episode of his radio and TV shows, even though he was a Jew. Irving Berlin, also a Jew, wrote one of the most famous Christmas songs of all, "White Christmas." In 1967, singer Barbra Streisand, again a Jew, put out a Christmas record album. Even the Three Stooges, all Jews, once disguised themselves as Santa Claus in one of their short subject films. Being Jews, none of them actually observed Christmas, but felt they had to pretend to do so just to put themselves in good with their predominantly Christian fans, and perhaps to please the Christian establishment in this country who are always talking about how America is a "Christian country" founded on "Christian values." (tell that to the Indians!)
