yep a lot gets mentioned about how Em wouldn’t be shit without Dre which is probably true he helped craft him as a whole artist but Em actually gave Dre’s career a massive boost as well in terms of hits and ghost writing. 2001 album wouldn’t have been as great as it is without Em and Aftermath wouldn’t have blown the way it did either

To me they have about the same amount of classic albums, give or take 1 or 2 depending on personal taste. Em is and always have been a better rapper but his taste is questionable to say the least, Snoop is just as big of an icon and contributor to the culture but will never be on a top 10 for skills. Overall they both deserve respect and hall of fame status. That's not even the problem tho. Snoop didn't say 50 is above Em, he said the OGs that he used to look up to. Where is the disrespect? He made it very clear that Em is top 10 to the general public but not for him personally and then proceeded to explain what he meant. I think he was very fair. But enter the Stans "eMiNEm Is tHe GOaT oR YoU aRe A hAtEr" and talking shit about Snoops contribution for no reason. I grew up on Em and he will always have a special place in my heart, his peak was absolutely legendary and ground breaking but there's nothing wrong with keeping him outside of your top 10. Brian Talley I understand that Eminem can rap circles around these guys, he can rap circles around most people on the planet. But let’s be honest, rap has evolved to the point where lyrical skill only goes so far into being a good artist. Eminem in my opinion was probably the ultimate combination, but he has quirks. The topics he raps about, they just don’t resonate well with others. Not many people from any American ghetto, the birthplace of hip hop, will be playing Eminem, though we all respect him. I play Eminem, I love Eminem. But do y’all really think Snoop Dogg was going to have him in his top 10?

Hamza Faison Brother I feel you. Rakim is one of the best to do it and he proved during his time with aftermath he could rap in today’s hip hop. My thing is I go off talent and skill not how many records you sold or your popularity. I love snoop but he’s more of a great artist than a lyricist. There’s just different levels to this stuff when we talking skills but Rakim is def in my top 10. I don’t care about the order but to say Em is not a top 10 lyricist in this game is absolutely crazy to me.

Dr dre heard Eminem's Just the 2 of us song and was immediately impressed. Dre did not make the Slim Shady persona, Eminem did, D12 did. Eminem had a lot of pent up anger and he was about to explode with it anyway. Dre came to be the first medium to drive that anger out. One thing for sure is, Eminem likes to rub shit in the face of doubters, that is why as a competitive battle rapper, he cannot let anybody be better than him. So he is always grinding. And I believe, even if dre didn't get eminem, Eminem would still be where he is. And that is way ahead of everybody in the rap game.
