I used to think the same thing that he was one of the greatest “what ifs” but then he dropped he dropped A Written Testimony and got completely outshined by HOV IMO. Too many great rappers that either died in their prime or had other bad circumstances that I’d put in the greatest that never was category for Jay Elec to be there. When you really get down to it, his reputation was built around 4 songs that were close to perfect. Never even put out enough music to have the conversation to me, the mystique of him going quiet for years built an unnecessary amount of hype around him and he let the rap game pass him by
